Hello TMP! So I've been on a War of the Roses kick over the last year. I've been assembling a Yorkist army and reading some history. One thing I've come to find quite difficult is to explain and pinpoint the different standards of Edward IV. I've identified 4 different standards so far: -black bull standard -gold lion standard -white lion standard -white rose in sun splendor standard If you all need pictures I can post some. I've collected all those standards in 15mm. My question is, when did he use which standard (if he even used them all). I have two command stands that will represent Edward. One I want to use to represent him at Towton, the other at Barnet. I'd just like some more history as to when he used which standard and which ones I should use for my Edward IV command. Thanks guys! Im sure the white lion with white roses standard was used by him when Earl of March, around the time of battle of Mortimers cross. At Barnet i would say gold lion. Possibly Black bull at Towton. Not 100% sure but others will hopefully add there know how! |

Flag or Swallow Tail? Phil (P.S. I think the black bull is usually associated with Towton) |

Swallow tail standards. I had a feeling the bull standard was what he used at Towton so I'll go with that one for one of the stands. Still not sure about the Barnet standard. I'm torn between the white lion and the white rose. I've seen both used in multiple places. |

I heard he had very low standards. |

For shame, Leadpusher! I'm sure he had the finest companions money could buy. And he married at least one of them. Not my best period, but I do remember the fuss at Barnet because someone's "Star with Streams" badge was confused with Edward's "Sun in Splendor" which is not proof that he was flying the "Sun in Splendor" at Barnet, but does suggest as much. And multiple standards are not unprecedented. |

Very true Robert! That's how Edward won Barnet! I hadn't considered that before. |
