"After all, both countries have long been nuclear powers -- a deterrent that encompasses the lives of a combined 1.4 billion people. Both nations have also seen some years of relative peace along their border, a break from the wars that pockmarked the 20th Century. And yet, hours after 18 were killed in an attack on an army base in Indian-administered Kashmir, the director-general of military operations for the Indian Army announced that the terrorists carried gear which had "Pakistani markings."…" From here link Amicalement Armand |

Yea, I think that's pretty much the national sport for both sides, though they do seem to have better relation with each other than in the past. Radical Muslim jihadis keep trying to stir up a war between the two armies. |

It may be instructive to note that since they acquired nuclear weapons, both sides have refrained from engaging in a full-blown war, unlike before nukes, despite numerous provocations from both sides. Maybe that deterrence thing is working for them, at the cost of this ongoing, periodic skirmishing and low-level terrorism. At least that is well short of a conventional war that could easily get out of control and kill millions in a day. Nobody's vital national interests seem to be at stake in Kashmir border clashes and maybe the countries' leaders are just sensible enough to not risk what a general war might bring. |

They have done it four times already. Though Pakistan always has came off 2nd best. Numbers count and India most surely has the numbers. |
