Hello, Has anyone gamed a what if scenario where the US Army joins forces with the Texas Revolutionary Army against Mexico circa 1836? |

At the Alamo or Gonzales or somewhere else? |

Some historians have theorized that Houston's retreat eastward was to involve the US troops in Louisiana by some sort of border "provocation." As it was, several 100 "deserters", with all of their gear, joined the Texan army in time for San Jacinto. |

I am actually surprise that Jackson did not become directly involved. He did not discourage "volunteers" from the U.S. Army to join the Texas Army. This is a more plausible "what if" than many I have heard. It would of course meant a war with Mexico. What was the state of the American Army and Navy in 1836? |

The US military was involved in the Second Seminole War since 1835. Also, relationships on the Canadian border were rather precarious at best. |

Don't think Texas really needed the US Army. Unofficial volunteers aside. |

It's an easy hypothetical to game, if you're already doing the Texas Revolution. It probably makes things even harder on the Mexicans, though, so might affect play balance of a campaign or scenario. Of course, Santa Anna's blazing ineptness as a military commander remains the Mexican army's greatest liability. |

The US Army was on the other side of the Sabine under Gen. Gaines. I wonder how it would have played out? I think a person once posted that they gamed the Texan army after the revolution 1837, fighting against a second attempt of Mexico trying to take back lost territory. |
