"For every victory, there is a defeat. Some are worse than others, however. Some victories are brought about by military blunders committed by the other side. This top ten list is concerned with the factors that brought devastating defeat – from foolhardy advice to disastrous mistakes, cheap military equipment to poor leadership…" See here link Amicalement Armand |

Apparently the author was more concerned for finding obscure disasters than by actually making a comprehensive list. It doesn't make sense to mention Pliska but ignore Manzikert, Adrianopolis or Yarmouk. |

I thought Karansebes is regarded as a myth now? |

I thought some 20th century battles would make the list. For example, the battle of Stalingrad, where the entire German 6th Army was surrounded, cut-off from reinforcements, and starved and frozen. Nearly a million men died or were captured there from the Wehrmacht forces. The Soviets did not lose any major battle on the Eastern Front after that point. |

I am just pleased that the list doesn't refer to any of the many games I've lost through 'blundering'! |

I am pretty sure that Karansebes is in fact a myth – a skirmish over-blown by sequential re-telling I have to agree that there are other, bigger disasters – after all, despite Agincourt the French actually won the war Stalingrad would be a good choice – as would Verdun; what about the Battle of the Philippine Sea or the Battle of Tsushima? |

The author REALLY needs to get a proof reader rather than relying on the spell checker. Then he should read a decent military history book and find the dozens of 'military disasters' that litter its pages, each worse and more important that what he has presented. |

There are a few, shall we say, inaccuracies in the text. |

Rather Euro-centric as well. Considering that the Battle of Salsu in 612 AD saw the defeat and near utter annihilation of a Sui army of 300,000 by the Kogoryo, I at least, would have included it. Particularly as the invasion it was fought in was a major factor in the fall of the Sui Dynasty. |
