Gentlefolk,

You wanted more…you got it!

This next treasure trove is courtesy of Knut Grunitz, who did the superb counter artwork (and more) for Tanga, 1914.

Hi Andrew,

I see that the Tanga Boardgame has two counters of the German C/73-Feldkanonen. I thought the German artillery pair present at the battle were actually 37mm Revolving cannon with the multi-barrells? Your info would be appreciated since I am organising to play Tanga scenarios with 10mm figures. Perhaps both types of guns were present??

Durban,

We went through just about every book there was on the subject, all sources agree that the Germans only had two pieces of "real" artillery, though small and there was never any mention of the 37mm Hotchkiss type-jobbie, especially since their MG units were so highly effective. We also had a rather extensive conversation over on the ColonialWars Yahoo! group with some hard data provided by all parties and the FK C.73 won out.

Hope that helps, but if you have a definite source for your information, please let me know.

Andrew

Thanks for that helpful response, Andrew. The 'info' I have for the 37mm Revolvers is merely pictoral – so not definitive. So C73 or Revolvers for us gamers seems reasonable! PS It's impressive to see that a great deal of research has gone into developing the Tanga game. A great project which deserves to do well!

No prob, Noel…we went with the most evidence. Now I just need to tidy up the errata.
