Covers all periods, discusses all the fine points of attack and defend, all properly indexed and readily available to view, to further discuss, and be happy with? Yes! |

No, there are plenty of boards as it is. |

Your responses too date will not stop this becoming a Poll Suggestion in the near future. All resistance is futile! Vote YES for inaction …and kill it off quick |
Winston Smith | 11 Sep 2016 8:36 a.m. PST |
Oh, you are in charge of making this into an actual Poll? Where did you get that power? Maybe I had better read the FAQ again. |
Winston Smith | 11 Sep 2016 8:40 a.m. PST |
Seriously though…! Since tactics in every game are subtly different, you would need a tactics board for every set of rules out there. A friend told me about playing a set of Napoleonic rules at a convention where everything boiled to morale. So, he charged a brigade of cuirassiers with limbered Royal Horse Artillery and routed them. Not a very common tactic, I fear. But one that should be discussed on your new board. I will vote against it, should it come to a vote. |

I think it'll be hard to really find common ground between Norman cavalry at Hastings, trench raiders in WW1 and space marine drop pod assaults. |

Yes please. Aside from desire for more chaos and confusion in general, I would like to specifically see exactly the kind of discusion the Weasel envisions. |

Norman cavalry at Hastings, trench raiders in WW1 and space marine drop pod assaults. Where would I sign up for that game !?!? |

I think I just invented a new genre :-) |

I'd love to see the playtest notes. "We've found that the Crusader tank is not as effective points-wise against a T-Rex and Byzantine cataphracts are simply not strong enough against Confederate bayonet charges" |

No, as 'tactics' will vary both by period and specific rules. We could of course have a board where we just spout Sun Tzu, Clausewitz and half remembered staff college maxims about maintenace of the aim etc. at each other all day. But that might get a little dull, and we already have one of those called 'Game Design'. |

Bad idea which will never happen. |
Ben Avery | 12 Sep 2016 10:26 a.m. PST |
Weasel, I think you've accurately and succinctly shown just exactly why we need this board. |
Old Contemptibles | 12 Sep 2016 3:10 p.m. PST |
If varies depending on the era, the rules and the battle. |

How long have you been around here? Bad ideas are always happening. |
