I am not sure if others do this much but we are trying to meld board games as a campaign generator with miniatures. First week not so good for RE Lee. link Thank you for your comments Jon lebanon1982.blogspot.com |

Good post. My group have used board games as battle generators for some time. From ancients to modern and sci fi. It helps control that fight to the last man mentality. Looking forward to more updates. |

I did some campaigns in days gone by using boardgames. AH 1776 for the AWI and OSG Napoleon at Bay for 1814. I'd say the thing you have to work on is the link between board and miniatures game. How do you do the terrain? How do you transfer losses? In the 1814 campaign board game Blucher got a +1 in combat, Napoleon got a +2. We never did figure out how to give this the same weight in our miniatures game. It was fun. |

We have used board games to generate tabletop actions as well. Coming up with the terrain for the battle requires some knowledge of the terrain in the area on the board. In the ACW believe it or not google maps is a great help. For ancients or renaissance we use the FoG terrain generation and that seem to work out ok. |
