I was wondering if the British 1st & 6th Airborne used bazookas? I remember my Airfix British Paras came with a bazooka team and the movie "The Red Beret" with Alan Ladd had them also. I have yet to see any photos though of British Airborne troops with a bazooka, only PIATS.

Only PIATs as far as I'm aware, despite what Airfix say! They also gave them to the Commandos as well, and Matchbox to their British Infantry. I don't think I saw a PIAT in plastic till Esci's British Infantry and Paras?

Gary you are right, as far as plastics go the PIAT has indeed been elusive. Unfortunately Esci messed up their version of the PIAT in both sets you mentioned by giving it a bipod instead of a monopod. Caesar British infantry set has a decent PIAT bloke while the more recent Airfix British infantry has a weirdly posed PIAT guy dragging along his own ammo while performing some kind of sideways roll. Revell British infantry has a pretty awful pose of a guy carrying it like an axe.

the britsh had bazookas after ww2, but not see evidence of use in nwe

It might be cultural mitosis. Bazookas appear frequently in Boys comics from the Cold War (like Commando, Warlord, Battle, etc.) Bazookas were also easier to find on film thanks to the sheer mass of American films. That might be what led to the Airfix error…

Never used and PIATs especially after a landing were few and far between as either broke or lost on landing.

The Airfix set that was released (or escaped) back when dinosaurs roamed the earth was meant to be a generic set of "modern" paratroops in the same way their "Infantry Combat Group" was supposed to represent the British army. B

ack in those daze, the dawn of tabletop gaming, WWII was referred to as the"modern" period, believe it or not!

Yep the 3.5 inch Rocket Launcher as it was called in British terminology IIRC. My father used one in the Royal Marines and my CSM used to refer to it. No wartime use.
Except the SAS I think they used the 2.76 Bazooka issued one per Jeep section in NWE.
The 3.5 inch was issued in 1953 and replaced the PIAT.
