Ah … the US ARMY has not issued the standard M14 since about the late '70s, mid '80s … We were issued M14s when I was Cadet, '75-'77. Then we got the M16 … And the only M14s that were issued, AFAIK, in the US ARMY, were to our Snipers in the ROK,'84-'85 on the DMZ. They were the upgraded version, the M21 … |

I really enjoy firing the M14, even after having to lug one around in Navy boot camp. This article seems a bit out of date. |

So they use the M14 for something it wasn't designed for then have an article about why it's good they aren't going to do that anymore. I just hope we can dump at least $5 USDmil on a replacement project. |
