I like how the clock is just a fender washer, so for variety we can substitute any number of magnetic clocks.

Though I question whether variety is much needed in *that* particular area. Round clock? Rectangle clock? Simple clock? Ornate clock? Video screen? How much does this really change the flavor of the model?

Yeah, the clocks aren't washers for any special reason. They were just the first things I found about the right sort of size.
