I am terribly pleased to be able to showcase two new gallery sections (in two different scales!) on the Hammer's Slammers: The Crucible web site:
link is a report on a game by Patrick Sexton's group in Chicago (which happened in June, but I'm still playing catch-up after the summer!) using a selection of kit from different manufacturers and is an excellent demonstration of mixing ability and experience levels in a game. As always with his group, the game looks excellent with a great deal of attention paid to the modelling side – lots of customised technicals and conversions are evident.
Secondly, I was invited by Tony Francis of Brigade Games down to the Maidstone Wargames Society for another Slammers game, this time using his new 6mm range. These demonstrate an unprecedented level of detail in this scale with the use of etched brass roofs and separate tri-barrels on the combat cars, for example. To add to the fun, we played over brilliant scenery representing a canal area: this was based on the scenery for an award winning WW2 game which the club had cunningly built so that the buildings could be swapped out.
I have mentioned this in another (unrelated) post TMP link with just a few pitures but – to see the game in all its diminutive goodness – visit the Slammers site here: link

Thanks: I'm very happy that the game has garnered followers and enthusiasts from across the globe and – as a bonus – they seem to be talented modellers, thoughtful scenario constructors and are up for taking good photos so that makes my job of promoting their work very much easier! John T |

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x10 6mm Rules !!!!! Those pics of the 6mm really demonstrates how well 6mm works for larger games. Company level and above. Plus you actually have maneuver room. |

Tony's game looks fantastic and I am very envious of the bridge and canal. Also, thanks for the kind words Mr. Treadaway. |

Patrick, both yourself and Tony both know how to put on a blinding game. I'm glad to be able to bring your work(s) to even wider attention. John T |

If I didn't already have a shed load of Ogre/GEV miniatures still to paint, I'd be all over these like a rash. |

Paint it Pink – the advantage, of course, of the Slammers stuff is that it is very easy to paint… Silver spray and brown with rust for the skirts. For my sample lot, I didn't even paint them I just inked* the metal and sealed them. The advantage of these being all white metal as opposed to a resin, metal mix. Cutting the decals up took longer than painting the things! John T *well ink in Future |
