I tend to use either Reaper paints or the cheap water based paints in Walmart's hobby section (Apple paints, etc.). Could someone suggest a paint color (preferably either Reaper paints or one of the cheap Walmart water based paints) that I should use for early World War I German uniforms.

Any old mid-grey will do. The early uniforms were actually grey, unlike the later field grey (green/grey) uniforms.
