I have read that there was a list of 15 colors used to camouflage French tanks in the late 30's and into 1940. Besides the standard sand, olive and brown does anyone know what all colors were listed, and possibly a reference to what they looked like?

I read this in Steven Zaloga's Osprey book on WWII French tanks, but he doe snot give a list. However in the two volumes there are color profiles which show a bright pale yellow and another that shows a mauve, lavender and mint green.

Thanks for any help,

Terry

I've seen pictures that had the different colors bordered in white, black, and a light blue.

WW2 French Camo is quite uneasy to understand, even for a french … :)

Regulation :
Basis : Olive Green

then … for the Hotchkiss H35-H39 you have 6 camo scheme
for the Renault R35 you have more camo , even with unusual colors such as the mauve lavender etc …

you have a good book ( and the ultimate work on French camo ) trackstory.fr/18-livres-books- ( and with French/english text ) Pascal Danjou has made a great work .

Thank you gentlemen for the additional info.

Lou, that is the book I have been looking for and would like to order, Sadly, I do not trust my French well enough to try and order it from their site. Do they have an English page that would help?

Thanks again all,

Terry
