SESSION 7b: GULP
ROUND 6A – THOMAS PAYS THE PRICE
• The two archers line up shots at Thomas and fire. The first arrow strikes Thomas, piercing through his left forearm for 3pts of damage. The second strikes him in the scalp. It's a nasty wound and blood gushes down over his face as he suffers a further 3pts of damage. The blood starts to drain from Thomas's face as he has flashbacks to the wars. He can see his friends dying in battle and he's starting to wonder if he too will now finally rest.
• The goblins in the western corridor start to feverishly hack away at Ansic. The eastern most one takes a 5ft step forward to flank the big human. He stabs at Ansic's back but misses. The one to the north east makes the most of his counter flanking position and tries to slash at Ansic and he hits the veteran in the right leg, bypassing the up to now impenetrable defences and dealing 4pts of damage. The last two hack away but both miss.
• The goblins in the eastern corridor are shaken by Thomas's fierce display. The first attacks Cord but it's evil little hands aren't up to coordinating the attack properly as it's still trying to recover from the psychological attack.
• The next attacks Uthalin and barely misses thanks to the shaken condition (Uthalin my boy it looks like you owe Thomas a beer back at The Salty Tusk I dare say).
ROUND 6B – PAYBACK TIME
• Heavily wounded, Thomas swings his longsword at the flanked goblin to his west and strikes it in the right leg for 8pts of damage. Shaking, Thomas takes a 5ft step back towards safety.
• Ansic pounds the little goblin to his left with his sword hilt. The damage is so massive it caves in the goblins head and it instantly dies. He has dealt 10pts of damage. Ansic 5ft steps to the west.
• Halee titter tats 10ft to the south east and smashes the western most goblin with her morning star but she misses.
• Continuing his ditty, Risandor draws and fires another arrow at the goblin archers but misses.
• Roaring with anger and excitement Cord misses with Milo but stabbing through the goblins face with Otis he hits its brain, killing it instantly with 7pts of damage. He 5ft steps forward over his foes lifeless form.
• Not to be outdone, Uthalin swings his waraxe and catches the goblin opposite to him in the groin, dealing 7pts of damage and dropping the creepy little beast. He 5ft steps forward.
ROUND 7A – TIME TO RUN
• Down to ½ strength the goblins need to test morale again. I've given a modifier of -1 given ½ the remaining goblins are shaken and they had also loss their champion so they need a 6 or less on 2d6. The roll an 8 and they flee.
• Ansic strikes at the western most goblin with an attack of opportunity but he misses.
• Halee however smashes the goblin that tries to run from in front of her dealing 9pts of damage, sinking the spikes of the morning star into the small of its back and dropping it where it stands.
• Surprised the cowardice of the goblins, Cord and Uthalin miss their attacks of opportunities and the four eastern goblins get away.
• Scared the two goblin archers drop their short bows and start to step away from the party.
AFTER THE BATTLE
After the sudden rush of combat the party gathers its wits.
"Quick", yells Halee, "Ansic, Uthalin and Cord grab those two archers"
Following after the goblins they learn that they have run down into a dead end.
Ansic and Uthalin corner the goblins at the end of the unfinished passage. Risandor, Cord and Thomas soon follow whilst Halee keeps watch at the intersection.
Negotiating from behind a veritable wall of intimidating steel and psychotic muscle, Risandor easily begins to draw the information the party needs from the goblins.
"Why did you attack us?" he asks.
"Vell you had kome into our kave wizout telling us. Vhy did you do zat? Vo are you?" asked the first goblin.
"We're asking the questions here. Ansic slap him".
But before Ansic can move Cord quickly busts through between Ansic and Uthalin and shoves his sword right through the open mouth of the goblin, piercing the back of its throat and killing it.
The remaining goblin starts gibbering uncontrollably at the suddenness of the death of its little friend.
"Agghh jeez, really Cord. Ansic take Cord to the back for the moment" mutters Risandor.
Cords' shoulders droop as he realises that he's done bad and he turns and mopes off back towards Halee.
"Who is your leader?" continues Risandor to the freshly soiled goblin.
"Rangar Rip Gutter, zee fierkest goblin in the vole vorld!!!!"
"How do you live in these caves with so many enemies?" continues Risandor.
"I dunno, vee fight against zee orks a lot. Sometimes vee make a big tribe vis zee hobgoblins and attakk vem togezer. Zats fun."
Where are the orcs?"
Zey are akross Zee ozer side of zee falley. Rald wants to go now. Me tired and you'fe killed all my friendz."
Risandor nods to Uthalin who raises his axe and quickly puts the remaining goblin out of its misery.
