Hello,

I had a problem a couple years ago and I am finally ready to get back to these models.

Had a bad can of Armory primer and it frosted some Panzerschiffe resin models.

I have tried Simple green for a few days now with no success. Any ideas for a method to remove the paint without destroying the models is greatly appreciated.

Fortunately a couple of these are extras so I can do a test if needed.

TIA,

Aaron

So "Easy off" as in oven cleaner?

I will give it a try on the test models.

Thanks!

Yes, it is. I'm not sure I wouls use that though. Might be too harsh. I have used Pine Sol ( as per the link). It does work pretty good and I would suppose, with no extensive use, it will be ok.

Okay, that last shot of yours reminds me of some of the ship wrecks with corals growing on their hulls. One of those test ships might make a cool little diorama.

I would do pine sol as well. Easy off can be a harsh cleaner.

Ok,I believe the simple green is similar to pine sol and the paint is not acrylic.

Great news, I was going to try something else and when I removed a ship from the simple green were it has been soaking for a few days now, Iwas able to peel the white primer off in large chunks with my finger nail.

If you're in the USA, pick up some Super Clean at Walmart or the automotive store. Simple Green's useless, although you can clean the tiles with it. Super Clean is caustic, so wear rubber gloves. Not as caustic as oven cleaner, I think.

Guys,

The simple green is working after soaking several days. Just had to be really patient. Primer had been on for almost 3 yrs.

The paint is separating in large chunks from the model like a rubbery thin skin.
