Next week I am on a seven day trip to Berchtesgarden in Germany and Salzburg just about the frontier in k.u.k Österreich (Austria). Is there anything in those towns or roundabout what might be interesting for someone who is interested in Wargaming and military history. Places worth of seeing, fortifications, Museums or similiar. I nearly don´t dare to ask for Wargaming related Shops in those areas but I do.

Depends on how far you'll travel in a day and what your interest is. I was assigned a little north of there--Bad Kissingen--and Task Force Baum and the Hammelburg raid were an easy commute. And you could still see crop shadows of Bavarian 1866 entrenchments. Munich gets you Schloss Ingolstadt and the Bavarian Army Museum. I think some of the WWII underground facilities at Berchtesgarden may still be accessible. Of course you're in prime Patton territory throughout.

And where IS the Iron Maiden? I haven't seen Rusty since "Wally Wood's THUNDER Agents folded, but she was indeed excellent.

Oh well, wherever, wherever you are, Iron Maiden's gonna get you, no matter how far. See the blood flow watching it shed up above my head. Iron Maiden wants you for dead.

Looking forward to the release of these.

"Platoons" of two Chieftains is just wrong!

This thread makes no sense. It's like posts have been randomly shuffled together.

They have. Happens all the time.

Saltzburg is very good for history. The castle there is worth checking out and it contains a good amount of local history including uniforms and weapons from across the centuries; in particular Napoleonic, wars of German unification, WW1 and the Cold War. Only 1938-45 is conspicuously missing from the collection.

Pictors Studio31 Aug 2016 6:12 p.m. PST

Still one of the best ever. Every time I see them I have a good time.

Samurai Elb02 Sep 2016 7:37 a.m. PST

I have to look through the different Posts first. No idea why different threads were shuffeld together.

Thanks für all the Informations. I´ll surely visit the Castle. My travel guide-book did not mentioned that the Castle has any militäry items.
