With GW walking backwards in time with some of their current fluff, it sort of paralleled my collection habits.

I have been collecting a lot of old GW figures.

One project I have been working on was building a Grey Knights army. I tracked down some of the older Grey Knights (Probably made of lead), some older looking Dreadnoughts. I thought about tracking down one of the original Land Raiders, but saw Forge World makes a really cool Land Raider Armoured Proteus. That would make those guys stand out a bit on the table top.

I have been doing the same thing with Space Marines (Rogue Trader ones), Orks and Eldar.

Anyone else going old school with their collection?

I've been painting up a lot of my old Champions of Slaanesh figures recently for Age of Sigmar games.

I actually pulled out my old Eternal Champion set and painted Corum the other night. Moonglum and slumming Elric are next.

Not Warhammer, but all my Ancient armies are old Garrison 20mm, Minifigs 'S' Range orearly PB Range – and that's a lot of figures. Though to be fair, most of the old Garrison are post 2007 when I bought Garrison.

All my Citadel figures are pre-1990.

Funny, I was just looking at my small squad of Inquisitor-led Rogue Trader Space Marines last night thinking it was time to sell them to someone who could put them to use. Love the old school character of the figs but I just don't have the time.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm doing with my 40k nostalgia project. I'm mixing old and new figures and building a homebrew setting inspired by Rogue Trader. Check out this recent post on blog: link

40K Rogue Trader rules with a mix of older and new miniatures. I have all the old Adeptus Mechanicus and Genestealer miniatures, love them. I am going back to my roots in the hobby and rediscovering what I liked about 40K, scenario driven skirmish gaming. I have also been creating kit bashes to make more personality driven models.

I picked up most of the figures I was looking for over the past two years. I sold off my Space Marines to help finance my wedding. I still have a few I am looking for but the prices on Ebay are trending too high. I am trying to get one each of most of the models. My original collection was based around two boxes of plastic multi-part Space Marines. My new (retro?) collection is almost entirely metal.
