While holding opinions about miniatures, what is your impression of black licorice? Love it or hate it?

Texas Jack30 Aug 2016 11:38 a.m. PST

Love it!

Garand30 Aug 2016 11:43 a.m. PST

Hate it. Will fish out all of the black jelly beans to make sure I don't eat any by accident. Luckily my dad likes them, so I sometimes give them to him…

It's not an everyday item, but sometimes it's nice.

However, it does present the wonderful quality of ensuring one's candy dish is generally pilfer-proof (if that's a concern). How few people like it these days…

14Bore30 Aug 2016 11:58 a.m. PST

Love shiny new metal and black licorice, and don't call that crap thats red licorice.

45thdiv30 Aug 2016 12:05 p.m. PST

Callard and Bowser….what's not to love!
Unfortunately, now i'm older and it aggravates the Blood Pressure a bit.

CeruLucifus30 Aug 2016 12:20 p.m. PST

The only kind.

The red kind is some other flavor, cherry or strawberry or something, not licorice.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP30 Aug 2016 12:25 p.m. PST

Salt and sweet/salt Licorice is great. Sweet Licorice not so much (or at all)

Heinrich30 Aug 2016 12:27 p.m. PST

Mardaddy30 Aug 2016 12:50 p.m. PST

Hate it. Red Vines all the way…

mjkerner30 Aug 2016 1:09 p.m. PST

Hate licorice of any sort or color. Even the smell makes me gag.

StCrispin30 Aug 2016 1:16 p.m. PST

my whole family loves Dutch salt licorice. must be genetic. which is great because no one ever wants it from us.

I have to call out anyone who calls the red stuff licorice. its not! licorice is flavored from licorice root. hence the name. the red stuff is just red candy.

twizzlers of any kind aren't really licorice anyway. try the real stuff!

Red Vines > Twizzlers – that's an easy one.

jowady30 Aug 2016 2:03 p.m. PST

I agree that Callard and Bowser is some of the best stuff going.

Raold Dahl wrote in his book, "Boy" that his friend's father (who was a doctor, so he should know) said that the licorice factories made it by boiling rats and squeezing out their boiled guts and then drying them and slicing up the boiled dried rat guts and selling them as licorice whips. A likely story as any. Hate it.

Zargon30 Aug 2016 3:44 p.m. PST

Bad for me so of course I love it.

Florida Tory30 Aug 2016 4:05 p.m. PST

i prefer the clear liquid variety.

Grelber30 Aug 2016 9:55 p.m. PST

Don't like it, but I am partial to ouzo.

Bashytubits30 Aug 2016 10:54 p.m. PST

+1 Mardaddy.

The Man With Two Bryans31 Aug 2016 3:38 a.m. PST

Salty, black and Scandinavian is how I like it. Liquorice, that is. The ammonium chloride gives it that certain something – smells like cat wee, but tastes delicious.

Militia Pete31 Aug 2016 4:12 a.m. PST

Nasty stuff.

zoneofcontrol31 Aug 2016 5:16 a.m. PST

My family churns through bags of Allsorts Licorice. That works for me.

basileus6631 Aug 2016 6:21 a.m. PST

Love it.

22ndFoot31 Aug 2016 7:50 a.m. PST

Of course, it also gives you a good run for your money.

I like both the salt and the sweet versions. Both are great.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP31 Aug 2016 2:11 p.m. PST

Love the sweet but haven't had the salt.

La Fleche31 Aug 2016 6:33 p.m. PST
