Any suggestions for odd bits and pieces for Vietnam? Buffaloes, pigs, carts, that sort of thing? We're looking for odd bits to add a bit of flavour to our Vietnam set-ups. We're in the UK. |

Dont forget snakes. I know I was in I corp. snakes everywhere, I mean big ones.. Buffaloes I can tell take a lot of lead when they charge you. Lots of little villages. Pigs where in pens. Same goes for the water buffaloes when they were not in the fields. Tigers also where around but they where pretty scared of us. |

Our own Stan Johansen told me a horrifying snake story from his tour! Hopefully he will retell it here. As noted, the scale would help. There are some very good civilian sets in 28mm. |

I played in a 15mm Vietnam game at a convention once. A stream crossed the road that led our objective -- little ville surrounded by rice paddies -- and we had to stop and detail some men from my squad to remove a pig from the stream right at that spot, and damn if the referee didn't have a little black pig in 15mm scale! |

Ooops…sorry; 28mm. Civilian vehicles certainly, but SWMBO's tanks, APCs and choppers are Corgi 1/50 – don't know if that makes it harder or easier. Snakes might be a bit of a challenge, but great big monitor lizard would be pretty sweet I suppose. |

The traditional one is a Buddhist monument/temple. An unusual one would be a bicycle repair yard or wood laid out to dry. If rules reward players for adding a bit to the game then it will happen. In the PP rules there are often a few victory points for nicely painted units/ camp/extra scenic items etc. It is a motivator. martin

I made a snake out of a piece of thin cylindrical solder. He is coiled up with his head raised, ready to strike. I have beaucoup stands of jungle with a tree and lots of undergrowth. The snake is on one of the stands. He is rather hard to see. If a figure lands on that stand (the stands are each about 4' square) a die roll determines who gets whom. Tom |

Rice paddies!
These are not mine, but I've made some that are similar. They're easy to make. Cut up some astroturf or a green "Welcome" mat, glue it to some wood. Build a little berm around it, then add "water effects" to it. |
