Looks like Domino's, and perhaps others, will soon be using drones for deliveries of pizzas, etc., there.

Wonder how long it will be until people get tired of the incessant buzzing, eyesores of their skies filled with flocks of drones, etc., etc.?

Seems like it could invent a new sport though, with a reasonable reward, if you're a crack shot, e.g. skeet-shooting for pizza. A decent reward too, if you are a good enough shot not to shred the entire pizza with birdshot, but can just clip a rotor or two to cause a soft landing/crash.

No doubt, that may catch on here as well, I suspect, in addition to "hunter-killer" drones to grapple them in mid-air, to avoid gun laws, and to hijack more valuable cargo.

grappling hooks?

Will be interesting to see how long the experiment lasts as they are restricted to day light hours at the moment. I have a couple of air pistols but doubt I'd be able to hit one. I think a sling shot might be a good alternative as they are silent.

Bow and arrows might work too, especially if the arrows have a fishing barb on them, and a line to retrieve it with.

Much more fun and tasty than shooting carp, I suspect.

For those who don't like the drones there is this thing called local elections – they do silly things there like elect local local officials who either directly or indirectly decide on zoning regulations and such…

Mako1127 Aug 2016 5:02 p.m. PST

My guess is that will be taken our of the locals hands.

I don't recall cities being able to do much about jets flying overhead, so doubt they'll be able to with drones, either.

This idea should be squashed now, before it can get started, and runs out of control.

Dynaman878927 Aug 2016 5:41 p.m. PST

There is this other silly thing called national elections…

Mako1127 Aug 2016 7:58 p.m. PST

In some years, far more silly and depressing than in others…….

AND, of course with all the money connected to that, guess who's gonna win?

Enjoy the relative peace and quiet now, before its cluttered with swarms of these things, making a plague of locusts look small by comparison.

I would not count on an Election to get you what you want. Even national referendums are not binding. Our local Mayor has spent the last couple of years creating traffic chaos just so she can peddle her Bike anywhere she wants.

A net gun would be a much better idea or I suppose a signal jammer.

I think a decent .22lr should be good enough to bag some flying pizza. Definitely don't want to shred the pepperoni with birdshot.

bullant28 Aug 2016 2:31 a.m. PST

Seems a wee bit dangerous with all those bullets flying around and shot drones dropping everywhere…

This sounds more my speed

Hack it and you can put it straight onto eBay or build the drone army you always wanted

What if the Pizza Drones use suppressive fire to prepare the delivery zone before traversing it?
And wouldn't net-guns be a better option for assuring the quality of purloigned pizza?
Cheers.

As with many innovations like hang gliders and ultra lights drones will be a "great thing" until something bad happens, then the government will step in and regulate all the fun out of them. Their use will fall off until they are a niche for the rich and the quirky to demonstrate their wealth or quirkiness.

i'm sure that in such countries like US, UK (unfortunatly i had a try with it.. topped with meat and pineapple :-((() , NZ , Aus, France ecc…they make such an awful pizza …that to use it as air bombs trown by drones over ISIS redoubts..is the best way to use it

We Yanks, just go up the street to get a pizza In my home town … in some places you can't go a mile or less without running into a pizza place, Italian Eatery, etc., … Some times there are 2-3 within about 500 yds. or less of each other ! huh? Antone's and Salvatore's are about 50 yds. a part and Marino's is a 1/2 mile up the road from there !

Or just call one up and it's delivered personally … by human hands.

And amazingly … no fire arms are involved !

I planning on using a limited yield nuclear device. I like "mushrooms" on my pizza.
