For vesicles it seems like the plastic BF are good choice as are PSC (don't like FiB as they come based…..any others I'm missing?)

I'd like to stay away from the resin BF figs as they are pricey and I just don't see better detail in them, but I'm sure that's a figure by figure basis.

I have ZERO idea who makes the better infantry and could use all you 15mm'ers help here. Which do you prefer?

Thank you

My personal preferences are:

Battlefront: THey're chunky but very animated and you get a lot of poses.

QRF: Good, decent price, realistic proportions.

Peter Pig: A tough on the pricey side but they make a lot of things others don't and they are really good sculpts.

Old Glory/Command Decision: Not the sharpest sculpts but they are cheap and good for bulking out troops.

BF make an excellent but limited plastic infantry range, hoping there's more to come…look at Zvezda for a good range of cheap plastic vehicles, all my early war Soviet are by these.

For me it's all PSC vehicles and Peter Pig infantry.

That said I do like the FIB stuff although I accept that based vehicles is very marmite.

I have some of the (early) BF plastic vehicles and they are nasty – although I'm told the later offerings are much better.

I never use my 15mm PSC infantry – nice but just scaled wrong against an expectation of chunky metal. Just a taste thing and the fact they don't mix on the same table as none plastics. It has to be one or the other IMO in total.

Everything I own is 1/285th and I like playing tank skirmish level games: 1 tank on table = 1 tank and an infantry unit represents a squad. That's my chosen scale for conducting company level tank battles. That way you can maneuver and start battles at long range for guns. Having an 88, as an example. is important beacause of its long reach. board size is less of an issue for 1/285 scales.

Second, I like games that simulate historical situations. I'm not keen on systems that are all about the game and competitive matches. I got into war gaming because I was a wwii buff and an AFV enthusiast.

Having said all that I do like 15mm and 28mm. They are just so cool looking! While the scale typically doesn't lend itself to my overall preferences, both are outstanding scales for games that are more infantry skirmish level. And that I would like to try out. The scale is too expensive for me to outfit company level tank combat in any case. While I would never attempt to create wwii pacific type battles in 1/285th, 15mm seems to be ideal.

I'm pretty sure FOW doesn't fit my preferences. Perhaps Iabsm or 7coffins. Squad leader for miniatures? Crossfire? Nuts!.? Which do you think is best guys, systems that base infantry in squads or fire teams or systems where 1 fig is 1 soldier and is mounted individually?

Dan

I'm trying out Chain of Command in 15mm. Haven't played a game yet, but really enjoying reading the rules and they sound and look great.

IABSM works perfectly in 6mm / 1:285 – it is the ground scale, that's what I use for my company plus games and IMO is the best set of rules out there for this scale of action.

Checkout Mark Luthers site for inspiration

And likewise 15mm works perfectly for Chain of Command – again it's essentially the same as the ground scale so looks much better IMO than the 28mm game. I'm not as much of a fan of COC as I am IABSM but it is very good.

Resin BF? Did you mean metal?

Wargames Factory 15mm infantry, plastic and the range is limited to Germany and USA.
