I recall someone makes a 28mm Ontos – any idea who that may be?

Thanks!

Currently listed as out of stock at Brigade Games.

And I don't see it listed on the Company B site currently.

Double Thanks! The posting bug generated two topics.

I seemed to recall that was where I had seen it. The Marines need direct fire support – the VC are coming over the wire.

I wish someone would produce a 1/56 Vietnam Duster.

I've read from a few sources the Ontos also enjoyed quite a reputation in Vietnam (from both sides,)

The VC would fight and fight and fight on even if you brought up APC's and overwhelming troops. But as soon as they saw an Ontos, they broke fire and scattered.

On the flip side, I've also read the design was horrible for the crew, even if you did not count having to disembark to reload, and they got the nickname "pigs" because they got so dirty and dusty on dirt roads and cross-country.

I personally love the looks of the Ontos, no matter how impractical it may actually be.

Did they function with anti-tank rounds to take out bunkers? Or did the RR have some sort of canister round it could employ to just fire into the dense brush?

Mardaddy28 Aug 2016 11:01 a.m. PST

From my readings, they came with both.

The Ontos was originally designed to be a light tank killer in response to expected hordes of Soviet tanks, but the Army took a pass at the design, handing over all their first run to the USMC.

105mm (and tehn 106mm) shotguns those beehive rounds…

And BTW, they NEVER shot all six RR's at the same time. It was done one time during evaluations and the backblast knocked bricks off nearby building and blew out the back windows of cars parked in the range parking lot.
