Hi all, just wondering if anyone has a good idea where to get collapsible/ foldable tables (UK) suitable for war-games table. I have plenty of space so maybe 8 foot by 5 foot could be the area covered in total. However the table(s) need to fold down, be easily storable and relatively light to carry around. Cheap also preferred ;-)

Looking for recommendations/ cunning plans!

Home base have large heavy duty plastic wall pasting tables, but I prefer something higher. I think they are £35.00 GBP each

Lids had a set of 3 papering tables for 30 quid, they are fairly flimsy, but OK and they are higher, so can game stood up.

Part way down this page is a mention of those tables – LINK – link

These places seem to buy on a 'when it's gone it's gone' basis.

If you need to raise the height of regular folding tables get a couple sets of something like this.

8 foot by 5 foot is a standard ping pong table size. The commercial ones fold in half giving 4 foot by 5 foot, depending on the design/quality the legs may fold inside the top or stick out a bit.

If your local area has large rubbish clean up campaigns you may find a slightly used one for the effort of picking it up off the road side.

The biggest risk that I'm aware of is you pr significant other turning them into sewing tables.

I'd look into 2x4 folding tables. They're robust, portable, and you can easily set them up so you have a 4x8 surface if you're willing to get 4 of them.

I did look at the 4' by 2' tables but the ones I saw were very expensive for the size and they were actually 20" by a little under 4' That is far enough off to need 4 of them rather than 3 for the standard 6' by 4' table size.

For others interested…avoid tables using hollow molded plastic top construction. Such tops deform over time…not worth any cost savings that might have been worth considering.

Keep your ping-pong table indoors – they always seem to get wet and warp when stored out of doors, even under a car park (though takes longer in that case). But they give a good surface. And you should be able to find one on wheels that folds up and rolls out of the way.

I've had mine for over 20 years and no deformation has occurred. Put something heavy on them and they will warp/sag however.

We have used ping pong table since the 190s. They are cheap when you get them out of a Trader's Helper.
