Which of the Star Trek TV series did you consider the best? |
Ragbones | 25 Aug 2016 10:55 a.m. PST |
The Original Series, hands down. Gene Roddenberry's vision was ground breaking. |
USAFpilot | 25 Aug 2016 11:00 a.m. PST |
The original was good, so was next generation. Deep Space was OK. The one after that, voyager?, was poor. The winner has to be the original though, because Kirk was the man. |
Dynaman8789 | 25 Aug 2016 11:05 a.m. PST |
TOS overall but the best episode is from TNG – the one where Picard stays on Earth with his brother for a bit. Followed by Yesterday's Enterprise. Or is it the TOS episode of The Doomsday Device (with the new FX it is spectactular) |
peterx | 25 Aug 2016 11:07 a.m. PST |
Original series. Cheesy, but cool. |
Tom Reed | 25 Aug 2016 11:08 a.m. PST |
The TOS series was by far the best. TNG was good, but for some reason I really liked Deep Space Nine. |
Sharpe52 | 25 Aug 2016 11:18 a.m. PST |
TOS is fascinating for originality but TNG is in my opinion the best. I have liked Enterprise also even if Trekkers don't consider that much. M |
Zhao Zilong | 25 Aug 2016 11:20 a.m. PST |
Deep Space Nine, then TNG. |
nvdoyle | 25 Aug 2016 11:25 a.m. PST |
DS9, then Enterprise. The dropoff from there is precipitous. |
John Leahy | 25 Aug 2016 11:27 a.m. PST |
TOS, The last season of Enterprise, TNG, DS9 then Voyager which I thought was weak. |
Captain Gideon | 25 Aug 2016 11:30 a.m. PST |
TOS and then Enterprise for me. But I still think that Babylon 5 was by far the best Sci-Fi series on tv IMHO. |
Landorl | 25 Aug 2016 11:32 a.m. PST |
DS9 followed by TOS. The thing about TOS is that it was so original that it can't be left off of the list, but it was pretty cheesy. The second half of DS9 had such intense storylines that it was hard to beat. The war with the Dominion and even with the Klingons was great! |

Inclined to prefer the original because they weren't that concerned with "canon". But TNG is excellent stuff too. |

TOS, but I enjoyed TNG and DS9 too, never really got into Voyager and never watched Enterprise. Besides originality, I thought the cast chemistry on TOS was great, who wouldn't want to party with Kirk, Bones, Sulu, and Scotty? |
15th Hussar | 25 Aug 2016 11:53 a.m. PST |
B5, ToS in that order…but "Yesterday's Enterprise" from TNG must get a nod also. DS9 was pretty good in its overall arc, but too much of the Ferengi junque. |
kallman | 25 Aug 2016 11:56 a.m. PST |
TOS but the later seasons of Deep Space Nine did push the boundaries in ways the other Trek series had not. I agree with Captian Gideon that B5 overall has been the best Science Fiction series to date. Off course with out the original Star Trek all that has come after might not have happened. |

The original series has stood up best overall, but I agree there were some cracking good episodes in all the other series. Second best overall was Enterprise, at least for me! |

Original, but only the first two seasons. They're still going on the momentum of those two years. |
Cyrus the Great | 25 Aug 2016 12:20 p.m. PST |
Deep Space Nine, except for the wacky Ferengi episodes. |
wrgmr1 | 25 Aug 2016 12:22 p.m. PST |
I like TOS, TNG and Enterprise equally. |
John Treadaway | 25 Aug 2016 12:40 p.m. PST |
The original followed by Star Trek Continues (carrying on from the original for a 4th season and the best fan films ever made – 6 episodes so far and the next episode out in a week and a half). Then Next Gen but mostly because Patrick Stewart is so good. After that everything (including the TNG films) has largely been poor (IMHO) but all better than the recent reboot (of which I've only seen partial sections of – which was enough!). So TOS and selected episodes of TNG. And, of course, the time travel crossover with Tribbles in DS9! John T |
Bashytubits | 25 Aug 2016 12:46 p.m. PST |
I like TOS and Enterprise. A shoutout is deserved by the DS9 Tribble time travel episode. |
billthecat | 25 Aug 2016 1:07 p.m. PST |
TOS…. Everything else is based on and inspired by these original scribblings… Not a huge fan of Trek in general, but without TOS there wouldn't BE ANY of the other spin offs/ series/ movies/etc.. I can only watch ANY episode of any series if it a) does NOT involve "time travel", is not too preachy, and does not resemble a bad daytime-TV soap opera …. So that leaves only a few episodes of any series…. |
PrivateSnafu | 25 Aug 2016 1:25 p.m. PST |
Its a generational thing for the most part. For me Next Generation, though I did watch lots of Original reruns in my grandparents basement. |
Ooh Rah | 25 Aug 2016 2:05 p.m. PST |
I like TOS for the camaraderie between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. The nostalgia factor is also very strong since it was on TV during my early teen years. Nothing else was quite like it back then when growing up. However, I enjoy TNG so much more and endlessly watch episodes on Netflix while painting miniatures. "The Inner Light" "Darmok" "Yesterday's Enterprise" "Parallels" and so many others. I can think of only two TOS episodes I would watch over and over "City on the Edge of Forever" and "Mirror, Mirror." Oh, and "Trouble With Tribbles." All the others I could never get into. There are still episodes of DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise I haven't seen. Hoping they will remain on Netflix for a long time and I'll get around to catching up. |
Streitax | 25 Aug 2016 2:11 p.m. PST |
TOS. The character's relationships are what sustains the 're-imagining' despite it's thematic weaknesses. Deep Space Nine was strong. TNG was an exercise in hitting people over the head with 'right thinking.' |

TOS, hands down. TNG was just too "kindler, gentler" for me (A therapist on the bridge? An onboard preschool? Wesley?), and I despise the Enterprise-D. The Ent-E should have been the design from the very start. Patrick Stewart was the quintessential Captain, but so many of the other actors and characters were so annoying -- Geordi's voice stuck in permanent "Reading Rainbow" mode, Data always yearning to be more human (a concept which is ludicrous), Troi's mere existence… yeah. Worf was always awesome, Riker was okay. Voyager had great banter amongst the crew, but too many of the episodes were strongly infected with the Berman-Braga Stupidity Syndrome. And Janeway should have died during the pilot episode. The real highlight of the series: Robert Picardo as the EMH. DS9 had some of the most thought-provoking storylines, and the characters were excellent. Avery Brooks (who played Sisko) is a terrible actor, but otherwise, the cast was pretty solid. It also was the series that best resisted the urge to make all alien races a monolithic hive-mind block. Enterprise had good potential and should have had a longer run, but again, the Berman-Braga Syndrome kicked in and gave us all those incredibly stupid episodes about time travel and whatnot. And Phlox and T'Pol, who were really just Neelix and Seven-of-Nine by other names. I really felt that Enterprise should have been more akin to "Red October in Space", with much more rudimentary technology and more focus on the crew adapting to life in outer space. |

"Star Trek" (aka, the original) will always be the best simply because it set the foundation for all that came after. That doesn't mean later productions didn't add to the original but, even at it's best, TNG tended to be "preachy" and Voyager was too much of a mess at times. Enterprise tried but fell flat etc… Out of all of the follow-up shows, DS9 is the only one that seems to be fully re-watchable. |

Like most of them though best episode of all time is still Measure of a man. 2nd season of TNG Data on trail to keep from being disassembled. Pikard defending and Riker for the prosecution. |

Just re-watching all TOS episodes on Netflix and I agree… best one hands down. Reminds me of being a kid and watching on CBC Ottawa Sunday mornings. :) I love the addition of the CGI ships and planetside establishing shots too. Well done. There's some good episodes from some of the other spin offs, except maybe Enterprise. The latter episodes of DS9 (aka Melrose Space Station)with loads of Klingon themed episodes and the Dominion War are pretty cool too. Just my .02 -B6 |

My two favorite were the original series and Deep Space 9. The worst was the animated series from the 1970s. |

I don't think the Animated series was that bad but that's my humble opinion. I do have the Animated series on DVD so I watch it every once in awhile. |

TOS--of course--and especially with the brilliantly added new special effects of the vessels engaged. "The Doomsday Machine," a personal favorite, but see the revamped version--it's almost like seeing for the first time! TVAG |
