Hi all My new rules: Fireteam Modern are now available on the WargameVault. link Fireteam Modern is a set of small unit skirmish rules for modern combined arms land combat using 15-28mm scale miniatures. The rules can be used to fight battles from any post WW2 conflict dating from the 1950s to the modern day or the near future. These rules have been designed to work with opposing forces of approximately platoon size with additional reinforcements such as small numbers of armoured vehicles and light artillery support. The PDF contains the core rules plus generic unit characteristic and printable unit cards for modern British Army, Insurgents and Soviet Equipment armed armies. Rory, I am looking at v1 and was wondering if you could explain the table at the top of page 10. When do you use the KO column vs the Sup column when rolling to damage a vehicle? |

For each successful on target hit roll 1d6. Any roll equal to or greater than the "sup" column suppresses the vehicle, any score equal to or higher than the "KO" column will knock out the vehicle. The two columns are used simlultaneously. Hope this answers your question. Rory |

Under Intro -> Forces: In most forces infantry elements are organised into groups of two, forming a section or squad. These >seconds< are then grouped Should that be sections? |

Yes should be sections. My apologies for the typo must have slipped through the prrof reading :( Rory |

Rules look good on first read through. I will probably house rule a spotting bonus for Specfor, trained scouts, and Thermal equipped units. |

From reading it seems like there is no way for small arms to suppress or knock out a soft skinned vehicle. Is this correct? |
Crabbman | 27 Aug 2016 12:49 p.m. PST |
Unfortunately I have omitted the paragraph on small arms fire at softskins. I will get this posted on my site ASAP as an errata to the rules. Small arms can suppress or KO light vehicles. The more hits that an element gets on a target, the more likely it is to successfully suppress or KO. Rory |

Cold War Commander are aimed at a higher level of organization than these rules. These are for small unit actions, more similar to Force on Force or Bolt Action. Rory |

Andy, I like Cold War Commander also, but why would you write that on a post where the author is introducing his new rule set? In any case, as mentioned, they are not competitors as they are pitched at different echelons. V/R, Jack |

I have purchased the rules today and got the 2.0 version. I very much look forward to the read. When is the Vietnam Scenario pack going to be released? And if there are errata can you send a notice to customers? |

Thanks for purchasing the rules. I am current working on the Vietnam expansion although not sure when it will be ready for publication, getting towards a busy part of the yeah with xmas rapidly approaching. I should be able to email customers who have bought the rules through the WargameVault or I may try and set up a mailing list from my website. Rory rorycrabb.wordpress.com |
