Hi,

I am after rules to play ship battles around Britain between 600AD and 1066AD.

Many Thanks

Rich

From what I've read it was mostly a case of lashing boats together then having at it with Axes, swords etc as normal on land. Small amount of archery, but at fairly short range as the bows were not as powerful as the later long bow. Depending on the scale you want to play standard skirmish rules would probably work.

There is a free set of rules, Away With Honor, online at link

There's also a set of rules called Baron Naval Wars. You can find it at link

A number of ancient naval rules will extend to this period in the Med. Byznatines v various opponents are covered in some but I haven't got my old naval rules accessible at present so can't be specific.
