From what I've read it was mostly a case of lashing boats together then having at it with Axes, swords etc as normal on land. Small amount of archery, but at fairly short range as the bows were not as powerful as the later long bow. Depending on the scale you want to play standard skirmish rules would probably work. |

A number of ancient naval rules will extend to this period in the Med. Byznatines v various opponents are covered in some but I haven't got my old naval rules accessible at present so can't be specific. |
