Currently, the "life" of a thread on the homepage appears to average about two days, which often means that an active discussion vanishes into boards oblivion. I often find myself hunting around because I failed to note which particular board a thread was posted on. Would it be possible to add a "Next" feature for the front page Message board,as is the case with the individual boards? That would be helpful. |

Or fix the search feature? |

Two things I have done to increase the shelf life of threads on my front page. Increase number of posts shown to 400. "Ignore" posters that make too many posts. You can also turn off boards you have no interest in. |

Not a big fan of adding features to applications that you can do yourself. The more specialized an application is, the 'lighter' it is, which makes is run faster and be generally more compatible across different platforms. While there are a lot of calls for 'modernization' of TMP, I like the server-side nature of the site and the very limited active content (which also makes the site more secure to run). I think the handling of tracking a thread of interest is best handled with the user having and managing a 'favourites' type link list. Most browsers support this, and it allows the user to be much more in control of things (assuming TMP next.whenever doesn't break the mold). Google is a lot better at search. Generally, I try to walk people through why they would not leverage a filtered and directed Google search for their online capability. You can do this on your own or the site can integrate Google. That may even be within the bounds of what is meant by 'fix the search'. Not pooh-poohing on anyone's desires (I think the two above are legit), just interested in discussion working toward the best solution across the board. |

Winston --hey,that's three things! But: 3. I'm interested in too many things! 2. Now, who would make "too many" posts? 1. Done! (I admit I wasn't aware of that function. Thanks. I'll probably fiddle around in there some more). |

Turning off tango gives about 4 days available. Useful function. martin |

Well that's just mean! I've found some of Armand's stuff useful. Though I cofess I could live with fewer additions to the Tango01 Nekkid Wimmen board. Or the Tango01 Stirrin' Up Trouble board. |

You can still find Armand posting in the boards you are interested in, even if he is set on Ignore. I ignore him on the Front Page to clear space, and so other topics can stay up there longer. Seriously, there is just not enough space for all those "nekkid female warrior" threads. If he posts in boards I peruse, and if the topics interest me, I open them. It's not being rude. It's saving space. |

True, true. OK, I admit it--the Nekkid board is becoming the last place where snark is admissible. And sometimes required. And I do love some occasional snark. It's the romantic in me. |

Sorry, i did not want to be mean to the chap. I expect his stuff is very interesting to the majority on TMP, excellent. i just want to see what others have to say before they are pushed off the front page. There area lot of interesting "gems" out there which i like to read. martin

how do you turn off boards, etc? |

You can turn off boards of no interest to you by changing your interests in the member settings. You can turn off someone's posts to the homepage by clicking on a member name, and hitting the ignore icon,on the lower right of their profile page. |
