What are the best conventions in the states for sci-fi miniatures? Are there any Historicon-like cons favoring sci-fi? Don't care if there is other stuff there, just looking a for a large sampling of sci-fi minis. Hoping for lots of games, and lots of dealers. Many thanks, irishserb |

A few Scifi companies will attend Historicon. Ral partha/ iron Wind used to be there. So are warlord, rebel, Wargamer factory and several other small companies. Scifi shows seem to be regional. Reaper has their own show in Dallas. Several companies attend Gencon. In the Sourh some retail stores will have Scifi at their booths since a lot of it is imported from England. |

Sadly, all the big HMGS-east conventions are about 10-15% SF and fantasy by games, and worse than that in the dealers hall and flea market. Given the size of the conventions, that means more fantasy and SF games than you could play over a three-day period, and more SF & fantasy dealers than any shop you'll ever see. "Sadly" is not because I have any objection to either as a wargaming genre, by the way, but because fantasy and science-fiction gamers so outnumber historical ones that we tend to be crowded out of joint venues. I can remember when you could have a choice of historical games at Pentacon in Fort Wayne. Now it's so RPG oriented you're hard-pressed even to find miniatures, let alone historical ones. |

There's a small one, back east, called Traveller-Con, or something like that. Also, someone does, or used to do a GZG-Con as well, on the East Coast, IIRC. |

Every year, I intend to go to GZG East. Maybe this time… |

"What are the best conventions in the states for sci-fi miniatures?" How many of us actually attend enough conventions across the country to answer this question? Even when I'm staying at the convention hotel, I never drive more than an hour from home (but then I live in a major metropolitan area blessed with conventions of every kind). One of my friends runs a local convention, and he travels to conventions around the country, but that's business. |

I second Adepticon in Chicago, Gen Con in Indy has a lot of Sci-Fi games. |

I'll say there are none that are specifically tailored to science fiction miniature gaming with lots of dealers. |

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions. Didn't know what I might be missing, so figured I'd ask. |

Adepticon is amazing, especially if you're into 28/32mm sci-fi. More 15mm guys are getting into too, as pioneered by Jimbo of ACP Games. We might attend this year, as might Micropanzer. |
