ATKM – great figures!

While they are more expensive, the Imrie/Risley figures of the War of the Revolution are excellent. They come in a variety of drill positions as well as running, walking, and firing. US, British, and Hessians are available as well as artillery gun crews with an excellent British 6-pounder.

The cavalry are excellent with superb horses (standing, walking, and running) and depict all four Continental light dragoon regiments, Simcoe's Queen's Rangers dragoons, and the 17th Light dragoons as well as the Philadelphia City Troop of Light Horse.

The painting guides are also excellent and I have built up a group of Continentals consisting of two companies of regulars (regulation uniform and hunting shirts), a company of light infantry, and a cavalry company as well as a two-gun artillery company, in all about 200 figures.

I have some 40mm from Doug at MSC and Sash and Sabre. They are plenty big for me.
But the interesting about these larger scales is that you can really do a good job on lace patterns, for the moron like me who thinks it matters.

And if you blanch at large battles, they are perfect for skirmish gaming with rules like WRG's Fire and Steel.

We are blessed with having all sorts of ranges for all sorts of rules and gaming. My heart is still with 25/28mm (particularly because I have thousands) but I can't wait to finish my Indians and militia for the Sugarloaf Massacre. (Sadly, all local battles were Massacres, with the Patriots on the losing side.)
