Always liked this design – I built and painted up a Testors 1/72 USMC version for display at the Aviation School I was stationed at for a while.

It is a really cool looking jet.

I had some very small plastic airplanes when I was a boy, and included in the were this plane and the Cutlass, another 1950s fighter.

Heinemann sure did design some pretty planes.

Was the second plastic model I made as a youth.

If they're the same ones I'm thinking of, I think I see it near the back:

One summer long ago, while visiting an aunt and uncle, two of my older cousins let me take home a bunch of their old toys they didn't play with anymore.
Among them were a lot of those little airplanes! It was like a second Christmas that year! :)

Ha, I remember those.

A friend had a collection of those, and gave me one or two.

Can't recall which ones, but I think they were jets. Pretty sure one was a Komet.

A pity they went missing, no doubt do to some overly aggressive parental house cleaning, or during a move.

Hmmmm, need to dig mine out, and pit them against some Cuban pilots, just for grins.

Been far too long since having a nice, post-WWII air battle.

Need to change that.

The 50's and 60's were classic decades for jet fighter design. Lightning, Hunter, Buccaneer, Sea Vixen, Javelin, Century series, F-4, F-5, F-8, Mirage, Su-7, Su-15 and Mig-21.
