Way back in the 1980's there was a fashion in the Lancashire based reenactment regiment I was in to wear clogs. I have now began wondering if there was any actual evidence for this or was it just fashion based upon speculation?
Anyone out there know the answer?

Cheers

Re-enactment fashion and protection of feet during the mock battle. Patterns were used for dirty work to protect shoes these were not designed for walking far. Look at period paintings and prints for real shoe shapes.
