Since Scott's troops had gray jackets at Lundy's Lane, did the drummers wear gray as well? Or were they in reversed colors (red/blue collar and cuffs)like the traditional uniform for US infantry drummers in 1814?

Everything I've read indicates that they wore the red uniforms with blue collars and cuff

Hmm… I don't think so. Drummer Jarvis Hanks of the 11th Infantry Regiment, which was part of Scott's Second Brigade states that"we were all furnished with a grey suit of clothes, consisting of a round-about, or sailor's jacket, and pantaloons." It appears likely that certainly all of the enlisted wore grey. This is confirmed by the famous painting of Scott's Brigade at Chippewa.

This is while they were in training at Buffalo and before before Brown's Division departed for destiny at Chippewa and Lundy's Lane. pg 32 Soldiers of 1814… by Donald Graves.

Also, Scott ordered that all men in his brigade would wear the gray excepting the officers.pg 27 "…Lundy's Lane… by Donald Graves.

Thanks for the responses! I'll go with the gray, then. Have the Graves book on order, but haven't received it yet.

Scott, " old stuff and feathers" would probably prefer his drummers in the proper colours; so why not do at least one regiment with them thus. Mine are all red with blue.
