Hrm… I want to like Attack Wing, but it seems to suffer from 'Combo Syndrome'; that is, regardless of the nonsense that results, any combination of characters and equipment is acceptable, as long as it brings you victory.

Picard on the Klingon flagship? And I've heard instances of the bald one captaining Borg cubes in this game… not as Locutus, but just good ol' Jean-Luc, steering the Borg, his mortal enemy, to victory. Yeah… right.

Perhaps not as absurd as sticking Napoleon at the head of the Prussian army in 1815, but along the lines of Darth Vader zipping about in an X-Wing. The game just doesn't seem to encourage following the theme or flavour of the source material.

Having said that, it looks like you had fun, isdblues, and that's what counts. Just not my cup of tea; Earl Grey, hot, or otherwise. :)

No problem Martin – to be honest I usually play faction pure, normally Dominion.

In fact the only organised play event I've won was faction pure, with the Dominion. Very thematic with Dukat and Weyoun as the captains using only Dominion upgrades etc.

The game above was a "fun" game in the sense it wasn't me sticking to my own faction-pure bias and seeing how different combos work.

I very rarely use a card out of faction, but in the instance above the two cards I used were to cover serious shortcomings in the Mirror Universe ships (that I own); hence Picard (high captain skill) & detonation codes (only mine defence in the game.)

It really is a wonderful game – the equal of X-Wing in my opinion and well worth getting into.
