Hello again All,

I thought I'd share pics of some of my terrain .I enjoy building terrain so I have made quite a collection along the years.

I think that using natural items is one of the most rewarding when building terrain. Anyway enjoy & if you have questions do not hesitate to ask.

I normally do terrain that can be used in various scales.

May you be inspired.

Impressive, and nice work. But where do you store it all?

I take it the ruins are the famous Lost City of Z?

What do you use for the hex pattern? I'm curious on how to get that effect

Yikes looks great…..

I like the cacti and those corrugated buildings the best but they are all good.

Thanks all for the kind words. Glad you like them.

Where do I store it ? In every nook & cranny :):):). Believe me it is a continuous battle to find space,as most probably every gamer can state.

The hex pattern was done by using a garden mat as a mask for spraying ( thick black rubber 2 ft by 1 ft mat like those used for removing mud from shoes ) This mat has an open hex pattern (which made me buy obviously) & the ones on the top are wider then those on the bottom.

Thanks again

Pencil shavings? Brilliant!

zrunelord15 Aug 2016 11:31 p.m. PST

Thanks Gnubrid,
Glad you think so.
Note that when I said coloured pencil shavings I meant just the coloured core NOT the outer shell. In Fact I used Plastic crayons made by " JOVI " because of their bright pigment.
Red, Orange & Yellow mostly + little bits of brown & black were chopped up roughly with a scalpel & mixed with resin. This mix was spooned / dribbled in / over the lava cones.(If you don't have access to resin you can use Araldite 2 part epoxy or similar – slow setting not 5 min to give you time to work).

Hope you found it useful .

Hello again all,
Here is the continuation of the shanty town /frontier village.

The roofs have been made from pizza boxes ( clean off course ) stuck to thick card. I prefer flat roofs to slanted so that minis can be place on them. All graffiti are hand painted & very rewarding to do ( on your models not buses :):):) ).

The board is a very nice free downloadable Mercs one.

Seriously, this is the most inspiring sci fi terrain I've seen. Creative ideas and fantastic execution. Love it – off to eat some pizza to try to do some of the shanty towns ;)

zrunelord03 May 2017 7:38 a.m. PST

Thanks for the very nice comments Alan.

More will follow for sure.

Pizza boxes, laser jet cartridge etc packing carton , exp poly & plastic sprue are all great for building projects.

If you need help, advice etc mail me on zrunelord at gmail dot com.

Fantastic use of low cost/no cost materials. Very inspiring.

zrunelord05 May 2017 1:28 p.m. PST

Thank you Maxim,

Glad you like it.
Eco is the way to go for sure, good for the planet & the pocket.Believe me there's a lot of satisfaction to be gained from using stuff that has been marked for the rubbish bin & recycling it.
If it comes nice then all the better. All should try it.

I have added the fake Chinese alphabet I used ,for those who want to write faux Chinese billboards without the risk of writing silly ( to say the least ) things.

To continue on what I was saying before.
Look at these very great ideas.Have to make them someday.

Great projects from simple things.
I take off my hat to the ones who did them.
