Here is a very nice looking KS for a skirmish game set in the SLA Industries setting. Some very nice miniatures released so far for it.

Terrible set up. The minis look nice but you've got to take a lot of t-shirts, bags and other nonsense to get them. A mini kick starter needs to sell you the miniatures.

Rapier Miniatures11 Aug 2016 11:35 a.m. PST

Terrible, how so, just pledge for the rule book and add the minis you want, easy peasy.

bsrlee11 Aug 2016 11:45 a.m. PST

Wonder what scale they are? 25mm, 28mm, 32mm, 40mm? Bases look wrong for 15mm but could be…..

Complicated fulfillment schemes are really good at delaying and tanking Kickstarters. The more staightforward, the more likely it is that some sort of responsible adult with a clue about finance did the math. Add in that their rules aren't even written yet, and I have no confidence that these people did their homework. A kickstarter to get written rules published is fine (layout, illustrations, and printing take money), but unwritten is how you end up in development limbo.

But if you already have, like and play the SLA Industries role playing game this is pretty much a must.

Rapier Miniatures11 Aug 2016 4:01 p.m. PST

32mm'ish I already have the Jack figure.

manic miner11 Aug 2016 4:11 p.m. PST

Well the guy's who are running this also do the other non gaming stuff so i dont see any problems with fulfilling this project.
The other stuff will be nice to have and you do get miniatures added to your pledge at the different levels.
I have gone in at the £100.00 GBP mark which gets you quite a few miniatures now.If you look at the prices of the miniatures on there own i think it is a very good deal so far.
The art work which is done looks great so far with more being done as time goes on.I can see this being a well played game once it is released.
I know the setting has been around for quite some time now and it has its fan's.I am sure they are as happy to see this project being done as i am of being able to help support it.
They are play testing the rules now and have an open day coming up which should be a good day out.Going to try and make it if i can.

Wachaza, this is really to get the book out.The miniatures are stretch goals which you can look at as being a bonus.Any extra money being made is going into expanding the miniatures range much more quickly than if they had to get the money from sales of released miniatures.

Balthazar Marduk11 Aug 2016 6:21 p.m. PST

Those minis are pretty friggin' sweet.

manic miner12 Aug 2016 2:34 a.m. PST

They have shown some new one's which will be due out soon.

Check-out the link below for the new pieces.

Quite a few stretch goals reached and new miniatures unlocked.
There will be more revealed at the Open Day on the 20th of this month.I have my ticket and am looking forward to the day.

More miniatures have been unlocked in this KS which makes the £100.00 GBP pledge really good value. Will be even better once more people jump on it.

Interesting, had the RPG since the 90's, and really like it (though unfortunately never been able to persuade a bunch of players to take it on). Elements of the background certainly cry out for a miniatures game. I'd like to see some Thresher power suits…. Unfortunately too much money, unlikely to be be picked up by my local gaming group, and I'd never get around to paiting the mini's.

ItWasGG04 Sep 2016 2:08 p.m. PST

Oooh! This was an unexpected oldie! :D
The World of Progress is actually a damn good setting for a skirmish game! Necromunda+dystopian postapoca+horror, sort of. If they'll be able to duct tape a campaign ruleset in there somewhere I could very well see this game grow quite popular and notorious! The question is how to do that though, if the sides in a battle are "SLA Ops/Contract Killers vs. CS1 zoology" though… Tricky to say how the final product will end up?

There's lots of concepts for factions and warbands though:
Soft companies, serial killer gatherings, Shi'An cults, menaces sent by Intruder, Dream entities, various CS1 inhabitants or just criminal props. Characters can range from the massive power armors of Thresher, eldritch horrors of Necanthropes to utterly alien conflict races or interlopers from the White. There's a lot of potential in there!

I'm a little wary of the decision to make it 32mm though. Larger models do have slightly more grandiose feel, but also makes it harder to convert stuff from other games…

ItWasGG07 Sep 2016 3:47 a.m. PST

Oh snap, the pledge sum had been running wild while I was asleep! Still some 30 hours left though. The Ex-war Criminal is basically unlocked already, and the Necanthrope is a very probable unlock as well. :) The Necanthrope is such a characteristic creature from the SLA setting so it's nice it'll become available!

Digger is kind of a stretch though, but I'm not saying it's impossible? I wouldn't be crying if we missed out on him, I mean what are normal living beings gonna do about an eldritch killing machine that has been "alive" for 900+ years, but on the other hand it would be cool to have a (scale-comparable) 5-6m high avatar of death on the gaming table or in your display cabinet. ;)
SLA size comparison

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa08 Sep 2016 1:17 p.m. PST

I kind'a think that Digger isn't the best idea because I can't see him as a useable in the context of a miniature skirmish game. Personally I'd have preferred to see the GBH Squad or similar iconic, but useable, characters from the background.

The kickstarter site suggests that some of the miniatures are already avalible for purchase, but I can't seem to find them. Anyone got a link?

ItWasGG08 Sep 2016 1:38 p.m. PST

Yeah he'll just (and should) wipe the player teams off the table, wouldn't he? :) The model will probably look cool though:

A quick bit of arithmetic – we will have to make him in Resin, he would be insane in metal. He will be approximately 100mm to his eye level however the model would have a further 30-40mm in height with the 2 over the shoulder combat arms and weapons added. It would have as much bulk and resin content as around 7 or 8 regular 32mm minis.. we are talking a colossal miniature here!

He just unlocked with 2 ~hours left of the KS, anyhow. Jesus, all minis gonna be metal apart from him? Stormers, Manchine and the Necanthrope… That box gonna weigh a ton when it comes in the mail.

But yeah, I don't believe they have any links to where the already finished models would be purchasable, curiously enough? Carrions are supposed to be sold in squads of 6+1, for example?
Where do one get hold of scifi 32mm minis btw? Would be nice to get a bunch of cheap(ish) no-name street gang or serial killer models…

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa10 Sep 2016 3:29 a.m. PST

I found one Scav figure on ebay for GB£25 with t-shirt and other odd and ends. I notice that the name on the sprue is Prodos a name which illicts mixed reactions on TMP…

I toyed with chucking some money on the KS at the last minute, but the low number of mini's in the packages actually put me off in the end.

32mm seems to be bit of niche scale (deliberate choice?), and mainly fantasy miniatures, but there are odds and ends out there, which could be re-purposed. Statuesque miniature produce some potential SLOP's, unfortunately in one gender only. Apparently Dreamforge's Eisenkern plastics are 31mm toe to eye, so there is probably some potential there for a bit of light kit bashing. Though the fact we're talking about using proxies in the abscence of actual miniatures already doesn't seem to boad well…

Odd to miss having any links to it tho…
Edit: the Carriens have pretty decent prices! :3

ROUWetPatchBehindTheSofa10 Sep 2016 2:13 p.m. PST

Cheers, I did trawl their website before, but somehow missed the figures (not liking Daruma's site design). Prices look steep for a single miniature compared to other manufactuers, but the unit packs aren't bad.
