Smart, I've never heard of this character, I'll have to look him up.

Great set of books if you like historical fiction

A movie too ("Alatriste"), with Viggo Mortensen, though my memory of it is that it's a pretty heavy and slow film. I still have to find the books to give them a try.

The books are a great read.

Only read the first--really enjoyed it,looking for the others.

It got a rave by Michael Dirda in the Washington Post,BTW.

French truce party rides up to the staggering, wounded, bloody but unbowed handful of survivors of Alatristes regiment, passing on the King's offer to the survivors of the gallant regiment to march off the field with colours flying and retaining their weapons with full honours of war:

"We thank the King of France for his gracious offer…
But, you see, this is a Spanish Regiment!"

Outstanding!

I love the film, the acting is very good and the visual aspects are stunning. The battles and swordplay are outstanding to bad they tried to merge a story line covering something like 20 years in one movie.

I agree with Adamc. A film that could easily have been a whole series of films. It looked stunning, the acting, sets and costumes were amazing… but felt it could have been much more.

Love the figure, well done. Also, I loved the film but agree about the story line being too long.
