Please, could someone give me a quick guide to companies that sell MDF buildings in the UK? Who is good for price, who is good for quality, who has the most extensive ranges, that kind of thing?

For 28mm, 15mm and 6mm-sized figures.

4Ground are good quality, detailed, pre shaded / coloured, seem a bit pricey on the shelf in kit form, but the end results are always nice and worth the money.

Warbases are cheaper and give nice structures that in some cases you will want to add extra work to, such as colour or texture or window sills etc.

I'm not sure that either cater for 6mm.

here is an example of a 15mm wooden (good for east front) building that I completed last week. It is one of 3 in the pack. If you click on the picture you will see quite close detail.

The way my website works is that this post will move down the page and then disappear in 7 weeks.

I don't like the exposed tabs of most MDF buildings. Here are three vendors who have figured out how to provide MDF buildings without the exposed tabs spoiling the aesthetics of the building.

Sally 4th makes MDF buildings with photorealistic appliqués. See two posts I have done on my blog related to two of their buildings.

These are excellent kits that provide a terrific look even if your modeling skills are as bad as mine.

Litko makes very nice MDF buildings for pulp games.

Finally, I like the buildings from Multiverse Gaming. They make fire escapes which fit nicely in both their buildings and the Litko buildings.

All of these are for 28mm figures.

Sarissa precision have some very nice ranges. I'd love it if they did their System Sci-Fi range in 15mm and I have a couple of their 28mm buildings for Frostgrave.

Mad Mecha Guy does loads of SF and near future buildings in 15mm and a small range of 28mm. His pries and service really can't be beaten.

Game Craft Miniatures are based in the US, but their shipping is quite reasonable. They have extensive ranges of 15 and 28mm buildings and accessories. I have used some of their 28mm stuff for modern gaming in my fictional central asian republic, Kerplunkistan.

There's a good list of suppliers here as well:

Gamecraft is also a good choice for 6mm, they have a huge range, though they use matboard and acrylic rather than MDF.

Supreme Littleness Designs is also in the UK, they do some larger scale stuff, though I'm only familiar with their 3mm. You might ask nicely if they could look into upscaling it to 6mm.

I was going recommend TTCombat too. I recently bought their container ship and a super model it is too, especially after painting it. Great delivery service too.

I've gotten some very nice product from Warbases. Easy to build and an excellent price point.

I'm working up a modular magnetic fortress using Warbases Middle Eastern towers and walls. I have a good feel for this as a project.

Rapier miniatures in the UK appear to have all the ranges you're looking for. I haven't ordered anything from them yet but they look alright for the price
