link I was eating dinner with my son last night when he told me that the Hall of Fame game was canceled. This worried me, since we get Canton's bad weather 6-8 hours later. Well, we did need rain. Then he told me why. Unbelieveable. These are the geniuses who routinely hold up taxpayers to build billion dollar stadiums and they can't even play the first game of the season without screwing things up. Basically, they melted the playing field, and then it dried leaving slick spots and goo. And they tried to fix it with toxic solvents that would have had the players on the field an hour later. |

OK, who was the guy who brought out the toxic solvent and said "what's the worst that can happen?" Since I didn't have tickets, I am in a position to laugh. |

Good thing NFL players can read an MSDS or a label. |

Green Bay and Indy had this as a 5th preseason game. Every other team has only 4. |

Regardless of what paint and/or chemicals they used, why in the world were they doing this the day of? |

So that's where all the stick 'em went when they banned it years ago. |

Wasn't the game played at a high school field with newly installed turf? |
Winston Smith | 08 Aug 2016 5:01 p.m. PST |
Yes. It's the "new" Field Turf. Ground up tires, with rubber "grass" blades. You can see it kicked up occasionally. For reasons unknown the grounds crew didn't paint any logos on until right after the tarp was removed just before the game. The paint wouldn't dry. It's called planning ahead. |

One analyst brought up the excellent point that the NFL may now have to cancel regular season games if the field conditions are deemed "a danger to the players' safety." |

Does anything me really give a about this game? They play too many preseason games as it is. I think this game pays The Ginger Apes salary for the year…maybe that's why they play it. |

No, no one really cares, except that it punctures the balloon of the infallibility of the NFL. |

I was sad about it. I drive right by the HOF everyday that I go to work, and have watched the progress of the renovation of the stadium. I was teasing one of my patients yesterday by telling him it was really his fault, because he took his electric wheelchair over to the stadium and was doing doughnuts on the field. At least it got him to laugh. |

Back in my day, we would just play though it. None of this namby-pamby worrying about the environment or being exposed to supposed "toxic chemicals". I had no problem damage brain what sissy little penguin. Back the day in aardvark omelet and the chocolate sauce would just go back on the pitch and gargle hydrochloric icing for sprinkle donuts baker's dozen. What a bunch of fhatgn pants! |

Instead of canceling the game, they should have just moved it to a muddy field and played like they did a hundred years ago… |
