Aside from Hobby Boss, are there any full hull models of modern submarines available, perhaps in smaller scale than 1:700? |

With the completion of a project to put together the twenty four battalions of line infantry that formed the fighting power of Victor's I Corps at Talavera, I have put up some pictures of the corps as a whole, which will figure largely in the playing of the afternoon attack scenario.

This is so good. Anyone following Jonathon's blog work knows the research he puts into each and every unit and with this post links all that work to the individual unit pages. A great resource of anyone doing the Peninsular Wars as well as a joy to look at. I'm bookmarking this page for sure! |

I feel like St Paul on the Road to Damascus (except with me the issue is TOTS, which is 28mm or, instead, the "new" scale 15/18mm). Unlike Paul, my vision has survived so far, I have not heard a voice from on high asking about persecution….so I'll hang in with the One True Scale….. But I am beginning to see just what one can achieve in this format, I have recently discovered just what quality are AB castings, I could have fitted twice as many figures on my shelves had I started out…Oh forget it Brilliant. Great to see massed units like this, with the support eg gun limbers. Great photography too! |

deadhead: I am beginning to see just what one can achieve in this format, I have recently discovered just what quality are AB castings Yes, though I am completely happy with my couple of decades of 28mm, I readily admit that, given AB back at the outset,it would have been a given. At this point in time, however, waning optical skills preclude 18mm, sad to say… |

Thank you for sharing this culminating image and the images and details from your blogs over the years – beautiful. It was instrumental in bringing me back to Napoleonic collecting and gaming. Your Hard work deserves three cheers, but I don't know if anyone will answer me: Hip-hip… Hip-hip… Hip-hip… |

Hi Chaps, Thank you for your kind comments, and I am thrilled to hear that the blog and the projects featured have inspired an interest in the hobby as that was a principle driver in doing this stuff. As for 28mm, I hope the work has shown the potential with 18mm to bridge the gap between detail and personality in the figures and the ability to produce a Grand Manner game without resorting to owning an aircraft hangar to stage any games produced in. I purposely describe AB and other similar ranges as 18mm as I have painted the smaller 15mm for friends and they feel like a 6mm to me and my eyes struggle to cope with that difference. I love 28mm and will be producing other games in that scale for the obvious reasons that the scale is so popular, and with the advent of Sharp Practice a collection of 28mm Napoleonic is very likely at some stage. However I chose 18mm for Napoleonics to allow me to capture the size of the battles this period produced without having to use tiny groups of figures to represent regiments (a few men taking a flag for a walk) look. All this stuff like rule sets is down to personal choice in the end and the principles illustrated in my collection are easily transferable up and down the scales. Thanks again for your comments and I can't wait to get started on the last of the Spanish and get this project done and on the table. Cheers JJ |

carojon: I was especially impressed with this photo of Victor's entire corps, and labeled to boot. Thanks for going to all trouble to post this stuff. I always find your information about the personalities and regiments as fascinating as the photos. Thanks, John Miller |

Hi John, Thank you, that's very kind of you to comment. It has been very nice to receive the messages I have had from all the people who have been following this little project come together and to take the time to enjoy it before commencing the final stages. I hope you will enjoy the work to come on Bassecourt's and Albuqureque's Spanish units. All the best JJ |
