"RuneWars: The Miniatures Game is a game of battles between the great powers of Terrinoth. In each game, you and your opponent will gather armies of miniatures and lead them into battle—blocks of infantry will maneuver for position, cavalry wings will wheel and slam into a weakened flank, and monstrous rune golems or carrion lancers will smash through formations of lesser warriors. Innovative command tools, two distinct factions, and countless ways to customize your experience combine to offer an unparalleled miniatures gaming experience in RuneWars. Finally, with forty-eight beautifully sculpted, unpainted figures, you'll be able to paint and customize your armies to bring an entirely unique touch to your games and enter the hobby of miniatures painting!"

Another fantasy game requiring custom miniatures that people will inevitably sing the praises of because it was produced by someone other than GW….and be utterly forgotten in less than three years. Same as it ever was! |

Thing is this is coming from Fantasy Flight Games who are making more than GW is. So if it does well they will be putting out new releases that for sure will be cheaper than anything GW is putting out. Here is a video from of a Demo Game that was done at GenCon. link Kinda works like X-Wing & Armada Each unit has a set of dials and movement is done similar to X-Wing and there are cards for the units and Heroes/Monsters. Now in the video they are playing on a very small table but this is normally played on larger table. So coming from Fantasy Flight gives this game some serious backing and you can expect many new expansions once it gets going. |

Oh and here is a review of it from someone who did one of the Demo Games. link Several nice things: Units are set by just what point value (so like Kings of War). No bucket of dice – you are rolling only around 3-4 dice depending on what the unit has and the dice are D8's & D12's so far better results than just a bucket of D6's. |

In their defense I'll be inhaling those undead infantry if they become available seperately. You can never have too many skeletons! |

What some people may not realize is that Fantasy Flight Games is part of Asmodee, the largest game company in the world. RuneWars was demo'ed at Gencon (60k plus people) and got good reviews. This is not some fly by night company but a monster of an organization that can get its product out all over the world. FFG already produces some of the most popular miniature games in the world … X-Wing and Armada. GW should be very worried by this. |
