Since the board voted to bring it back let's try to have a good turn out. I and a friend will be going and I know Scott will be there. Who else is coming? At the request of a friend I will be running an ACW game. |

There is going to be a raffle for figures and other gaming stuff. Plus there will be food and lots of great games. The event is on August 20th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bushy Run Battlefield. If you have questions, need directions or want to run a game either email me (ssp113@hotmail.com) or pm me here. |

This has been a great event in the past, unfortunately I will be unable to attend this year. |

Drive time from Philly should be a little over 4 hours depending on traffic your end. If you are going to make a weekend out of it there are other historical sites to see in the area too, like Ft. Necessity and Ft. Ligonier (which has the best SYW museum in the United States.) |

I've been to Fort Ligonier (The Fort at Loyalhannah). The reconstructed fort and museum are excellent, worth spending the better part of a day. And the pretty little town of Ligonier is a great place to get lunch and/or dinner, and poke around some touristy shops and bars. The Ramada Inn in Ligonier is nice, and only a short walk through town to the fort. I'm thinking about driving up early and visiting Fort Necessity, which I've not seen yet. Can you recommend motels in Farmington (Fort Necessity) and/or Jeannette (Bushy Run)? I might drive up Friday, visit Fort Necessity, stay overnight, stay in Jeannette Saturday night after the con, drive home Sunday. Road trip! Woot! Woot! |

Thanks for that info. A bit too far for me that particular weekend, but I would like to get out there some time. |

The closest hotel to Bushy Run is probably the Holiday Inn Express in Delmont. It is about a 10 minute drive from there to the Battlefield. I don't know the area around Ft. Necessity that well but there are a bunch of motels off of 119 near there. Nemacolin is down that way, not far from Ft. Necessity. It is really nice but expensive. The Stone House is right near there too. I have not been there but it looks nice. It is about an hour drive from Ft. Necessity to Bushy Run, so if you wanted to you could drive there after visiting Ft. Necessity. There are some good restaurants in the area, like Burgatory in Murrysville, about a ten minute drive from the Hotel, that you could go to for dinner. Also on your way you will pass through Greensburg and that has a Gino Giannellis that has the best Stromboli in the world. Honestly I'm much more of a burger guy than a pizza guy but would take their strombolis over just about anything else I've ever eaten. |
