Bowman,
no derail at all .
I did really just discover them -lol I normally don't get to the dealer hall much – but don't remember seeing them at fall-in or cold wars . In my defence I am usually only looking at miniatures that catch my eye not buildings

We get a lot of gamers at our tables – and have had many comments that basically all say " I sign up for 19 & One games even if I don't know the rules ,because I know I will havefun and it looks great "

I think it helps that we have a good deal of non historical gaming as well – Frost Grave , Mordheim, 3d Game of Thrones boardgame, Kings of War ,

I agree they are sort of apples and oranges -but they each could learn from the other IF the powers to be weren't so obstinate .

4Ground has a large selection of buildings for Mordheim -- really nice mdf buildings. I have never played Mordheim. My husband enjoys Dead Man's Hand and 4Ground makes lovely old west buildings for that.

Grtbrt, will you and your crew be putting on Frost Grave, Mordheim and Kings of War at Adepticon. As much as I enjoy SAGA, I don't mind trying out new games.

I know we will be putting on Frostgrave and the Game of thrones . not sure about the others yet .
Google 3d Game of Thrones – it is impressive .
here is the site of our member that made it

Interesting enough at Gen Con this year, there was a very noticeable increase in miniatures games and dealers in the hall. I was pleasantly surprised.

Red Baron, okay, you have the right to your opinion.

"So you can redirect your funds to buy additional minis online and add them to your growing pile of unpainted figs or you be a part of gaming history." (KCabai)

The above statement was a response about going Gen Con. I found it condescending to me because the individual eludes going to Gen Con is SUPERIOR than how I want to spend my money and at the same time, SHAMES by choice. The undertone is there. I'm a foreigner and my English may not be as good as native speakers, but I sure felt SHAMED by that statement.

How anyone wanting to spend their money is NONE of other's business. The foundation of "gaming history" claim is vague and the poster was asked to be specific. Lets see actual facts and metrics -- lets see facts of how "being a part gaming history".

When Grtbrt shared his Gen Con experience from his perspective, I thought the review was fair. He focused on Gen Con, explaining both PROS AND CONS. He DID NOT resort to criticizing Gen Con non-attendee for their financial choice and I thanked him for being fair.

I can spend my money the way I want and so can anyone as well. I have no problem with people going to Gen Con, and I'm not going to shame them for their choice. I have no problem people who chose not to go, and I'm not going to shame them for their choice.

Anyone can make statements. It is their right to free speech, but there are consequences. There are repercussion for strong statements and opinions when the sentiments about the subject differs from each person. In America, there are libel and slander laws to deal with character defamation as well as anti-bullying laws.

So Red Bearon, if you feel that the statements I made, while trying to standup to someone who shamed my financial choice because I choose not to attend Gen Con, makes me a condescending hypocrite, you have the right to make your own opinion just as I had mine.

LMAO

One could infer that the degree in which you approach this, has more to do with guilt, rather than SHAME.

If I feel guilty of my lead mountain, you should read a post I made earlier today, titled "I am proud of my lead mountain" in the General Wargaming.

Yes, Bearon that is what I stated earlier. If you don't agree with those statements, go ahead and make comments. Your sentiments differ from mine, you have the right to voice yours. No problem. I can accept that.

You really have not been in the country that long,if you take the libel and slander laws seriously. You have to prove loss of income or property by such attacks. You give the impression that you are over 18, so no court is going to take a bullying case. Have you watched Trump and Clinton on TV?

It gives me joy that you have pride in your lead mountain, I am sure it gives you hours of happiness and experiences. I see now how a trip to a Con, pales in relation.

TMP Reader214 Aug 2016 8:23 a.m. PST

Red Bearon, why would I bring up a case of bullying? I have neither been bullied here nor have I claimed to have been bullied. For your information, the person who made the statement that I found condescending, is someone I know and respect him for his hobby passion. KCabai and his wife have given unselfishly to the hobby and will continue to do so because that is their nature. KCabai and I don't see eye-to-eye all the time, but we accept our difference of opinion. We may be acquaintances, but he has made me feel comfortable enough with him to voice my opinions that differ from his. Why would I think KCabai somehow bullied me? His statement was just an opinion made in general and because I disagreed with his statement, I voiced my opinion. As a matter of fact, he and I will probably banter about his statement over some drinks the next time he and I see each other. I think there is a misunderstanding here so I'm just going to drop it.

Yes, my lead mountain give me joy, but I also go to conventions on a regular basis and I enjoy them as well. I'm looking forward to going to What-Con 2016, Little Wars 2017, Adepticon 2017 and Historicon 2017.

This year, I finally mustered enough courage and patience to run a game at a small convention that was held to celebrate the 45th anniversary of a hobby store's existence. It was fun.

I don't know whether you go to conventions as I don't know you. If you go, great. If you don't, that's okay too.

Red Bearon,
You seem to have a very odd view of the laws concerning a number of things (I assume you are not a lawyer )
a) -there is no age limit on bullying cases that can be brought -it is just that usually the prosecution goes with harassment and discrimination instead of bullying .
b) Libel and slander -You do not have to prove loss of income or property – harm to reputation is the prime reason that those lawsuits are brought and won! using a public person as an example is vastly different and unrelated to the discussion ,as the burden of proof is greater in a number of ways -

Was there for Aerodrome Ace of Aces Tournament,my travel pard, for Flames of War Tournament. Saw plenty of interesting folks there. One dude dressed in sprite wings running around(revealed to be in a LARP game). This was only my second GenCon. Hope to be back next year, with a better hotel than what we stayed in this time.
