Hi all

For wee bit of mindless fun I stuck up a list of 18th Century rule sets I own on my Blog.
How many do you have in your collection ?

None. I wrote my own and published them. Glad you had fun though.

Thank you for posting those. While I have not played most of them it is always interesting to see what is out there. A couple you listed I have heard good things about so will look them up. They look like fun. 🍺

Batailles du Ancien Regimes
Warfare in the Age of Reason
Tricorne
Maurice Light
Guns of Liberty
Guns of the Mohawks

Fire as She Bears
Captains
Admirals
uh… uh… probably a lot more…

That I play? Maurice, King of the Battlefield.

Hi Sgt.,

That's a lot of rule sets.

As you know I like Piquet. I also like the look of Maurice, but as you say, it's built for a certain size of game which is invariably too small for my tastes. Drop me an email (side bar of blog) and I'll send you my house / amended Classic Piquet for big battles set – you already have the official rules (Piquet and FoB) so I guess Brent won't mind.

For small level actions we use Fire and Discipline which is a 1:10 company unit scale/
For skirmish games we still use the old 1981 'Glory!' which covered combat due to rifle classifications from 1750-1913.

Altefritz02 Aug 2016 11:38 a.m. PST

Volley and Bayonet
Maurice
Warfare in the Age of Reason
Flint and Steel
Frederick the Great
Ultima Ratio Regum-The last argument of Kings
Ultima Ratio Regum-Vauban
La Gentil Guerra
A la guerre
Twilight of the Sun King

Mitre, Mustache and Musket; everything else is superfluous.

Ga Pa is lots of fun, so is Maurice. We just played a six player Maurice game that went very well. It's been years since I played Konig Krieg, but had a great time playing it.

Cardinal Hawkwood03 Aug 2016 4:05 a.m. PST

I only have M&R but I am not unhappy to have saved all that money by not buying any others.

daler240D03 Aug 2016 9:03 a.m. PST

oh! I forgot about Ga Pa, I have that as well and it looks great but is more detailed than I can handle : (

Any love for Honours of War?

I played
Might and Reason
Age of Honor ( official Fire and Fury variant)
Muskets and Tomahwks
Black Powder

Curious but not yet bought:
Warfare in the Age of Reason (will I see 3rd edition before I die?)
Honors of War ( Seen good comments but no play near me)
Maurice (Wow, seems more liked than most here, must be fun)

Played and own A TON of naval rules. Won't even go there.

Flick4012 Aug 2016 8:27 a.m. PST

Cut my teeth on Age of Reason for SYW
then played Koenig Krieg
Tried Honors of War, Maurice, and Die Kriegs Kunst
Now I'm settled on Minden Rose

Waiting to see what AoR has for 3rd edition
