Latest addition to the conversions of the summer.
(Deadhead: The Mameluke officers arm broke of, and I need to order another figure before I can finish him:=)

This one is the body of a French ADC a la hussard from the ADC set of 6 figures. I added a head from a british ADC with a dropping plume, and drilled a hole for some additional plume, that I glued on top of the dropping one, all in order to get the necessary amount of plume befitting Murat;)
I painted him in (one of)the uniform(s) from the 1805 campaign.
I realize that there are many Murat figures out there now, Sho`s are realy nice, but I wanted to make my own all the same.
More photos are on my flickr, so feel free to have a link

Arrgh,,sorry for the post to the discussion board, it was only supposed to go to the Gallery board..

Every time I think of making Murat , I get hopelessly overwhelmed by all those different uniforms, and after getting myself in a lather failing to decide which to make , have to have a little lie down.

This is not so hopeless, AB. These Murat uniform variations are quite limited actually.

Right now I make some more Murats and then only Murat in Guard Grenadiers uniform and Murat without uniform stay uncovered. And these I maybe will cover, when I start to sculpt Napoleon's staff and court in foot.

VonBlucher02 Aug 2016 8:06 p.m. PST

Anthony, I would love to see a figure of Jean-Baptiste Bessières by you, at least he always wore the same uniform

Anthony Barton03 Aug 2016 3:12 a.m. PST

von B, that's a nice idea. Any more suggestions , apart from Murat, for recognisable Generals I haven't done yet ?

Dr Jeckyll03 Aug 2016 6:10 a.m. PST

I am going to take this opportunity to boldly suggest a French general in Hussar uniform with a tall shako with lots of plume and feathers with pelisse slung across the shoulder, mounted and looking suitably aloft. This would be a figure that could be used for Andoche Junot (as general of Hussars), Lannes and maybe even general Fournier-Sarloveze.

Also Grouchy in chasseur uniform with his cavalry cloack over his shoulder , Colbert of the red lancers with his arm in a sling and Ney in his furcoat as depicted in most Russian retreat pictures could be cool.

That said, and apart from the fact that I keep butchering them, I do love these minis and find the range and selection superb😉

These will go on my famous little List, which is stuck on the wall above my workbench. Six months down the line, when I have forgotten this conversation, but am happily making figures, I will look up and see the suggestions….

seneffe03 Aug 2016 3:05 p.m. PST

I'd love Murat in his Borodino get up- as depicted by the eyewitness Wurttemburg officer Faber du Four.

I renew all Murat set and add Borodino, Marengo and Napoli Murats.
So not yet, maybe on next month, after new mould is ready.

Sho- yes exactly!! He looks great.

Sho
Excellent sculpting – well seemingly I have to paint a few Murats again ;-))

Lion in the Stars12 Aug 2016 10:40 p.m. PST

At least with Murat you never need to paint the same uniform twice!

huevans01113 Aug 2016 9:06 a.m. PST

Tony, if you're still reading this thread, could you make some British staff wallahs / field officers in those dark blue frock coats and bicornes?

Also a Portuguese infantry colonel?

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP14 Aug 2016 5:20 p.m. PST

Ready..

and Marengo one..

Dr Jeckyll15 Aug 2016 1:51 a.m. PST

Great looking figure Sho!!
The plume on the top figure looks spot on! May I suggest that you apply your skills and sculpt a superior Officer of Hussars and add that plume to the shako..then Junot would be covered;)

Oh, and I will be ordering the new and revised Murat set as soon as it is ready.

What uniform Junot wear at Borodino?

Dr Jeckyll15 Aug 2016 11:59 a.m. PST

That is a good question. As far as I have seen he is most often depicted in his colonel general of Hussars uniform, the latest of them with the caption "Duc de Abrantes", which would place them in time after the invasion of Portugal in late 1807 where he was granted the title.
I actually do not think I have seen any other image than of him in his hussar uniform (apart from some depicting him from the revolutionary wars in early uniform).

In short, I have no idea what uniform he wore for sure, but it would not have been impossible that he wore his Hussar uniform…
And it is so cool;)

I sure hope I am not breaking any copyright when I post this picture I copied from pinterest. If so please let me know and I will ask Bill to remove it:

So long as you credit any image, which is freely available on the Internet, you will come to no harm regarding copyright. Pinterest seems to suggest that they have exclusive rights to the images they show (so long as you sign up to them). That is nonsense, they show many an illustration from Osprey…I do sometimes wonder about how they can avoid copyright issues

von Winterfeldt15 Aug 2016 1:24 p.m. PST

As long as there is no information about Junot, he shouldn't be sculpted then, or in other words, the topic has to be researched.

I just read recently the memoires of the commander of the Saxon Garde du Corps at Borodino, who confirms the Murat outlook, peach coloured trousers !!

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP17 Aug 2016 6:22 p.m. PST

We may sculpt earlier Junot in hussar uniform, as Dr Jeckyll ask. Well covered subject.
And I plan to sculpt Bessieres too. Both for Marengo and Borodino.

Littlearmies18 Aug 2016 6:09 a.m. PST

Dear Mr Barton,
Could we have some French line infantry with head variants, please? Bonnet de police and that sort of stuff?

And could we have a few character figures to put into the line and light regiments? Perhaps some fat NCO's or officers?

Actually I think fatties could work for any nationality…

Thank you,
Malcolm

Last Murat.. the King of Naples.

Moulding started.

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP24 Nov 2016 10:25 a.m. PST

You cannot beat him…he did have style did Murat.

The moulding skills, for that facial expression and the details of the scabbard…in 15/18mm scale……….

I had forgotten the earlier images of Junot! Very relevant to Gringo40s' forthcoming release in 28mm
