I have about 100 28mm figures per side that will need to be rebased and I was wondering what your suggestions would be to do with them. Skirmish in this period doesn't really interest me, will I just have to paint more?

What rules do you play by? Most rules of any regard would require more figs. Maybe do a diorama?

Just send them to me so you can concentrate on other time periods. I'll pay for shipping. You could go with "element" type rules such as DBACW, Volley and Bayonet, or One Hour Wargames. If you don't like element type games, you can have eight 12 figure units, or five 20 figure units, which would be good for a brigade or so per side.

Try Black Powder. You will ultimately have to paint more but for a start you could use it at 12 figures per regiment and get 8 regiments a side, which would give you almost a decent game. With another 8 figures a side you would have 3 brigades of 3 regiments on each side. It is minimum for Black Powder in most ways but it can still be fun.

You'll also need some command figures and such like.

I have recently put all my (6mm) ACW figures onto 3cm square bases with 4 bases per unit; these can now be used for Volley and Bayonet (rather than 3 inch bases which enables a smaller playing space), Black Powder (all units 4 bases each … close enough for ACW), Big Bloody Battles (etc) and a whole range of other rules as my be appear before me.

You 100 figures for each side could be based with 4 per base (4cm may best suit) then you'll have 25 bases each side giving all sorts of options for a whole range of rules. Add some guns, maybe a few cavalry and off you go.

Play Richard Borg's Battlecry with 4inch hexes
And one stand units of 4 figs

Those should be more than enough for some of the Bloody Big Battles ACW Scenarios (you can get them from the BBB Yaho Group)

Single base them on washes, so You can do small scale battles. For larger battles just make a magnetized base for units.

Trade them for some 10 or 12mm figures.
