I do a lot of WWII miniature ship and aircraft painting for 1:1800 scale ships and 1:900 scale for the Axis and Allies "War at Sea" naval wargame. (I painted 1:1200 Alnavco many, many years ago in High School.) Over the last 8 years or so I have gradually put a Vallejo paint equivalents table to most of the WWII naval camouflage colors. I then started on the WWII air force camouflage colors. I am still working on the air force colors, but only have the Italian Air Force and late war US colors still to do. The document has a page with all the references I have used and collected over the years. This table has been circulating the internet for awhile, but I am constantly updating it so there is a good chance you have an old copy if you have seen it before.

Anyway, here is the latest version and link. Feedback (constructive) is welcome. I will post an updated link when I update the document.

Thank you. Very useful but on the smaller scales (1/4800-1/6000) would you recommend going lighter?

Artistically, in my experience, you have to scale colour.

When you paint in 2D, things in the distance are always lighter.

Smaller scale…. further away… cut to old Father Ted sketch.
