Played a game of GW's Lost Patrol. While the game mechanics are pretty simple, I thought it was sort of fun, but could be made into a much better game with a few additional rules. Currently the Space Marines have a high probability of getting completely wiped out. I really like the Jungle tile setup. Would love to know if anyone else makes tiles like that. Things I thought of that could make the game play a bit more interesting for the Space Marines. Give the Sergeant one more action that could be applied to him/her or another marine. Heavy Bolters 3 Dice Range (Unlimited) 2 Dice Assault +1 Cover Fire Shotguns 3 Dice Assault 2 Dice Range (Range of 2 hexes) Sniper Rifles 2 Dice Range (4+) +1 Cover Fire 1 Dice Assault Traps (Limit 3 traps) Spend 1 action setting up a trap (4+ against first target and 6+ against other targets in hex). Hex must not be occupied when trap is set. Can place down decoy trap in addition to real trap. Traps must be placed in adjacent hexes. Please add additional rules/mods |

Got LP to game with my grandsons, who always play Scouts. I agree the rules as written are heavily weighted toward the 'Nids, so for us, regular Scouts hit on 4+, have a two tile range and roll 2 dice per shooting action. Heavy Bolter hits 4+, roll three dice and have unlimited LOS range. I'll steal that Sergeant +1 Extra action for next game. So thanks for that. Call me a blasphemer, but the rules are just guidelines. End of the day, all I care about is my grandsons having fun. |

Terrement, I haven't seen the new Lost Patrol, but I would bet dollars to donuts the hexes are much thicker/sturdier than the old Mighty Empires Hexes. All of the GW's boxed games in the last 10 years have had high-quality, thick cardboard components. The original Mighty Empires is great, but production values back then just aren't what they are today. |

Heh, didn't even know they re-released it. Are the rules very different from the original version? If so, is there any way to get a copy of just the rules? I'm not really interested in buying the game again as I made my own set in 6mm.

You should be able to find the board art from the original Tyrinids boards game. The art is supposed to the inside of a hive ship. Very colorful and made to look like guts. |
