What 28 mm figures do you use to represent them?

Winston Smith23 Jul 2016 9:09 a.m. PST

Do you mean the dismounted Dragoons?
The Hinchliffe figures were among the first AWI figures I bought and painted.
After some touching up, I rebased them on washers.
These figures have the huge dragoon boots, which may not be quite realistic. Only one pose too.

I still like the dismounted Brunswick dragoons by Front Rank -- older sculpts, but still serviceable.

Codes AWBC7 through AWBC11.

Triangle Miniatures in the U.S.A. carries them.

If you want skirmishing/firing line, then Foundry do a set of dismounted SYW Prussian dragoons with several poses, but they are in boots whereas Baum's men wore gaiters (despite all the lurid myths of ten pound boots to the contrary). You could file down the boot tops and "trimmings" if you feel up to it. Another benefit of going with Foundry is that they also do a range of mounted poses, as well. Again, myths to the contrary, one troop of dragoons did receive horses and operated as HQ escorts, couriers, etc. I would have thought a couple might have operated as scouts for Baum.

Alan Perry has been promising to do the dragoons for a while (and the other bits and pieces to finish off the Saratoga line, such as von Barner's Light Bn), but I think it may be a while longer……

If you're looking for suitable Von Barner LI figures, check out the Foundry SYW "Freikorps" range. The Prussians come without lapel.

That's what I used.

I've pretty much got Stark, the Green Mountain Boys and the Stockbridge Indians all finished.

I also have some Brits, Canadians, Loyalists and Indians completed.

All I need are the Dragoons.

So Foundry Prussian Dragoons firing and skirmishing, maybe 6 mounted scouts.

What about Cmd? And perhaps the HighCmd? like a Baum figure?

What packs do I need?

nevinsrip25 Jul 2016 4:58 p.m. PST

OK, I looked at Foundry and they really only have one pack with limited poses.
How about Old Glory?

Winston Smith25 Jul 2016 6:34 p.m. PST

Old Glory only has mounted Prussian Dragoons.

For dismounted Dragoons, you are kind of limited in pose by those who sell them as such.
Try Front Rank.

Or look at the Foundry Freikorps figures.

The Von Kleist Freikorps jaegers could pass as dismounted Dragoons.
Plus quite a few wild and wooly command figures.

Bill,

The pack you want is SYWP48 "Von Turton's Dismounted Dragoons".

Hi Bren, Are there any other packs or figure lines that will allow me to bulk up Baum's men?
I do like plenty of different poses and this limits me to a couple of shooting poses.I need some charging, attacking, wounded and dead.

Anything close that I can convert?

dBerczerk26 Jul 2016 1:03 p.m. PST

The dismounted/skirmishing Age of Reason Saxon Dragoons from Eureka Miniatures could be used to add variety.
