I just found a copy of Hardtack on ebay with an asking price of $174.99 USD US. auction

That seems like a LOT of money for a set of rules. Have I been living in a phone booth for the last ten years? Is that considered a reasonable asking price?

It is silly, isn't it?

I looked at his other listings. He's is a little over pricing in general. I think the price on this one is a entry error.

Let me check at home. I'll sell you one for 1/2 that. :)

As my father used to say: "You can ASK any price you want, it doesn't mean anyone is going to pay it."

Well, the dollar has been devalued by "quantitative easing", so……..

Breakfast biscuits at McD's are almost $4.00 USD each, and a Big Breakfast runs almost $6.00 USD, when they used to be $1.50 USD.

Thank You. I'm glad my bsometer is still intact. I just ordered a set for $25.00 USD from the website. I did so because Pete Rice was involved, his work has always been of interest to me.

I never fault someone for asking an outlandish price for something, but the fool who would actually pay the outlandish price is fair game.

I remember when McDobald's advertised "dinner for 4 for $5 USD and get change!" Of course back then $7,500 USD/year was a decent living…

I can remember "burger, fries, a drink and something you haven't seen for a bit--change back from your dollar." But I was making $1.25 USD an hour.

I can also remember the first time a comic said "still ten cents" instead of just "ten cents" and I thought then it was a bad sign. I was right. I've since seen them say "holding the line at $2.99 USD" and they haven't all.

Guidon Games rules are pretty darned rare. Chainmail (gold cover) seems to pop up from time to time for an even more exorbitant price. Not saying I agree with the pricing but the guy is selling it to a "collector" and not a gamer.

If someone was asking that much for it on Ebay, I'm sure some asshole on Amazon will triple that price.

Hafen von Schlockenberg21 Jul 2016 11:17 p.m. PST

Yeah,I remember when fast food prices were easy to remember --burger,hot dog, fries, soda, apple "pie"--all 10 cents each.

Now you kids get off my lawn.

I remember my dad complaining about 57 cents a gallon gasoline. You would have thought it was the end of civilization.

Rallynow – Back in the 50's, my father would send me down to the corner store with a quarter to buy a pack of cigarettes for him.

Candy bars were a nickel, comic books were a dime and you could actually buy PENNY candy.

Times have certainly changed.
