Anyone played? Any thoughts? Is it really fast play Dystopian Wars?

I wasn't aware this existed. Weren't the original DW streamlined and large-scale enough? It seemed about as complex as Man-o-War, which could be played with oodles of units, provided you could find room to lay out all the ship templates.

Dystopian wars is a fast game with easy to pick up rules. If I have one complaint it is that sometimes ships die too fast.

Each navy has its own unique flavor and special rules. On top of that the rules and ship rules are free online.

I found the original a bit counter-intuitive, and therefore not easy to pick up. However, definitely will have a peek at the new set.

Thanks!

Didn't know these were out, thanks for the heads up. The original rules were no fun but I like the ships.

OK, gave the book a quick read through last night. Lot simpler than the main rules, looks like it can run really large games or fast small games: the explanation of mechanics is clearer and the rules for fire combat are streamlined and simplified while still using all the mechanics of the previous rules. Movement is simplified and the effects of damage also now affect firepower in a way that makes sense and is a lot different to the main version.

All up, I'd say it's a great intro version and will indeed make very large games faster and more do-able for players :)

Danke sehr, CW!

I've one on the way as well. And, as the store manager admitted, that's a price I can't complain about… ;->=

Scotty sez he can't find a distributor.
